I don't give a flying duck about LTD mining, but whoever at FDev thinks that carrier owners can reasonably stock up on tritium in the black via mining, needs to stop smoking crack and get a doctor check for literally every mental illness known to man
i don't get the "can only exist for one's instance" thing. this was an argument during the speculation before carriers came out but i see no relevance in the current scenario. carriers wouldn't need any instancing restriction different from ships. a player can even have multiple actors (mothership/slf/srv) active, they all vanish if he logs out. that's just religion, all modes are equal.
again, carriers are persistent so player's can use other's carriers while they're offline to dock, buy and sell. if this is the significant departure you are referring to then i fully agree, but this by design, nothing to do with instancing.
i might be reading too much into this.
nope, you will be able to grind for the fuel to go anywhere you want. i have no idea where tritium spawns but there surely must be a source you can reach from your carrier with a ship?

In the current state you get about 10 tons of tritium per 60 limpets. You need about 135 tons to jump 500LY. I would have to use 810 limpets to get 135 tons of tritium to make one jump. The largest cargo hold I have in my biggest ship (A Cutter) holds 650 tons. I guess I could make a trip all the way back to the bubble to pick up enough tritium to be able to jump the carrier 2,407 LY and then repeat the process over and over until I get back.
I've found good trit returns in an LTD hotspot, but not in a trit one. Currently it seems to give a small boost to other items, just not the item named on itJust adding my info to the pile.
My Fleet Carrier is located about 55000ly from Sol. Mission is to explore the area around my carrier, then mine for an hour or two, then explore again. I've been repeating this until I have mined 1000 tons of Tritium, then I use it to move the carrier and start over again. Mining ship/method = Cutter/laser + SSD if I luck into finding one and it's not rotating too fast, I am not using my PWA because I'm not looking for SSD's only mining them if I luck into one.
Before today, I was reliably mining 155 tons of Tritium per hour from single Tritium hotspots. I would have liked to be closer to 200/hour but I found it acceptable.
Today I have tried 2 different Tritium hotspots at my carriers current location. First hour long session got me 74 tons. Second hour long session got me 76 tons.
I might just leave the carrier where it is until the patch of the patch of the patch of the update comes out.

Its beyond a joke now. Every bug that gets fixed, 3 more pop-up. We are the Beta testers at this point.
I would ask when Patch 4 out, but what's the point? That will contains its own Attack-Wing full of bugs.
I'm kinda in the same boat, but I didnt mine - I used the hauling tritium gravy train to earn slower but still decent credits. Problem is I earned just barely enough to buy FC, some optional services, and not much left over for peace of mind to ensure maintenance effectively for long enough to consider 'end of game'.
Either I need to figure out way to keep earning or just sell FC to prevent the ongoing cash drain.
Worst case some people will get a 5b cr refund.I would wait it out, there will be other cash cows. Give it a week or five (if you can fund your FC for that long).
