Little things you've never noticed before in 1000s hours of gameplay

So while flying around Witch Head last night in my Python and Krait - and in VR - I was hyperdicted couple of times. What struck me is how cool the cockpit looks in VR with only the red alert lights on and literally everything else switched off.

Wow. Over 3500 hours and I've never noticed it!

Anyone else had a little "oh wow!" moment after 1000s of hours? :D

I've upgraded my PC from a laptop running at medium settings largely to a desktop that can now run everything at maxed, and higher resolution, at 60fps.

Playing the game now feels like I'm rediscovering it from anew - the way shadows work (especially in asteroid rings, combined with the fog and godray effects), the textures everywhere. Or certain planetary landscapes even. Looking damn fine for a five year old game.

Stellar Forge is really impressive. If you explore around, look at orrery, etc. you can start to understand how every system has a little story that makes sense with star type, age, etc. After some time exploring I felt like I could get pretty skilled at spotting extrasolar captures - they often look a bit 'off', like having weird compositions for the type of system. Unfortunately the only real gameplay relevance this has is that captures tend to have out-of-plane inclinations that make them annoying to find in the FSS...

Cthonian worlds can be really impressive as well. Unfortunately, there does not seem to be any blackbody radiation for planetary bodies and really dense atmospheres tend to not be properly depicted, so the appearance of these worlds tends to be a bit off.

I can not have been the only person thinking

That no matter what has been messed up with the latest patch or needs fixing that without fail every Friday new items are added to the arx store for your purchasing pleasure.

I go above any item I want my collectors to pick up. Once I positioned myself above 4 items and one right next to my cockpit window, on the left.
As the collector came up and picked it up, it made a different chirp I had never heard before !!! :)

Yeah. After 2000 hours of gameplay, I decided to check what would happen if I drive my SRV straight into the carbon dioxide geyser :D
Weeeeeeeee. 5 km up! What a fun! :)

Really? I found that out merely a day after those geysers were added to the game. And even without me intending to check it out... :D ;)
[I swear, that thing secretly snuck under my SRV while i was parking there... ;) ]

It's not so much a never noticed, but a wow moment. I was in the Witch Head Nebula the other evening (you never told me you were around here ) and was meeting a group of people at the Witch Head Science Centre. I love Asteroid bases, they're very well done. As I was waiting for them I could see the distant sun getting closer to moving behind the gas giant. You have the moment where the last of the star light is shining through the atmosphere of the planet, creating the nice corona. And then darkness.

For the first time in a long time, I sat there and got to see it play out over the space of half hour or so :)

Really :) I'm playing ED since over 1.5 year. I saw those geysers a lot of times. And decided to check about month ago :D

They were news when they were introduced. Many of us went to check them out. But while i got coordinates, nobody told me what would happen if i'd park on one. :D

You can synthesize "premium" ammo. Had no idea.

Every noobie from the last 2 months..................."there are other ways to earn credits than Mining LTD and spamming the EGG?"

Well, they noticed now!!! :ROFLMAO:
Only quoting your post to say "Thank you." Ran across your post on the inara bulletin board and off loaded some Tritium for you and made a little money. Thanks!

Sadly suspended for now. If anything changes the ad will be back up on INARA.

I probably haven't noticed many little things...
...because there's not a lot of little things there.

I'm looking forward to Odyssey providing more to look at.
