Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Yes, yes I do.

I take it you never played DayZ mod? Was not uncommon to get into that exact situation. Except in the mod there was no way to suicide. So had to crawl around looking for a way to kill yourself (throw yourself off a building, find a zombie) or starve to death. 🤠

Wow. And i bet some people actually enjoyed that.

That's rage quit territory for me right there.

Roadmap updated. Still doesn't go past Q3. And it is July 17th.
I think we've long since established that “roadmap” falls into the same category as “refactor”, “agile”, “pledge”, “movement”, “never”, “done”, and “before” in the list of terms that CI¬G just have no idea what on earth they mean, but where they've invented a very inaccurate new meaning to compensate.

That would be boring. This thread is the liveliest its been in ages!

Always interested to hear though what it might take and how long before a backer thinks they are not getting the game they wanted.

Most of us here i assume are convinced that CIG simply cannot make the game they have promised. In my case, i'm half convinced nobody could make the game they have promised, at least not within 10 years and a billion dollar budget.

It happened with Strike Commander. It happened with Freelancer. Its happening again with Star Citizen.
LittleAnt reminds me of JMP? Several versions back, very entheusiastic but LittleAnt seems more level headed and not as many screenshot posts.

Ack, you're not getting it. Nothing wrong with talking about the fun you had in the alpha. Mole talks about the fun he's had and he doesn't get dogpiled for it. Sovapid talks about the fun he has in SC and doesn't get dogpiled for it (although he is a filthy gweifer :D).

You say you will be more factual, but the facts you are sometimes referring to are horse manure given out by CIG.

You do have to accept though that there is a very skeptical audience here, and to start parroting CIG talking points or simply saying "I have loads of fun in SC" is going to get challenged.

This is not /r/SC where people will upvote you for posting a screenshot of your ship and saying how wonderful CIG are and what a great game it already is.
Maybe there should be a summary post, first thing next forum version with all the standard argments and counter arguments so we could refer backers to.

Well, what an interesting turn of events today. I won't post it here, but if you have SA access there's some interesting things in the rumormill. I'm sure it will be on reddit soon anyway.
Please post, I'm curious.

I'll try and do a huge write up later -- the problem comes from having to discuss business things that happened years ago but are more common knowledge in the SA thread. Having to tie in Turbulent, CI, Ortwin, Redpill VR and trying to make it all cohesive (instead of my usual "lol" ramblings) will take me a few hours.

You really have to start with the first Calders investment in 2018 and then the CI/Turbulent board/share swap, as well as the second round of re-investment a few months ago (and the possible additional new investment in Q2 2020).

It also sounds like an insane QAnon conspiracy theory, which is why it has to be laid out delicately.

or someone can do it all for me and I can continue to be extremely lazy

edit: You'd also need to look at where the major r/starcitizen_trades sellers are from and I'm not sure posting that pastebin here is a good idea.

Fair enough, might be safer to leave it there.

Drag the body onto my ship, fly into space. Eject the body. Laugh.

Actually though, what is the point? If its an NPC its pretty worthless unless there is a quest involving dragging a dead/unconscious body.
They want to propose dead or alive quest.
If you get the NPC alive to the prison = more money

If its a player, what, players are now meant to wait when dead/unconscious while someone drags their body around?
The plan is at one stage of the capture (don't know exactly which one : stunning or in the pod), the player will be directly teleported to the prison and replaced for the bounty hunter by an NPC.

Imagine, both your legs are broken somehow. You're on a planet. Your ship is far away. You're slowing dying due to thirst (because boy, does your average player just love having survival mechanics in their space game).... so, you just sit there waiting for someone to come rescue you?

It's something we do a alot in SC (for the roleplayer). The last time a broke one of my leg and I was effectively at 10 min from my ship. I had called a friend and sat waiting for him.

Hell no, you don't, you commit suicide. That is an option right? At least for now.... because i'm sure if CR ever implements his "Death of a Spaceman" thing, he's going to want consequences for people killing themselves.
You guess right. You have no consequence now because suicide is the only way to get out of a lot of bugs.
In the future, suicide will be the last option. In your example, the gameplay will encourages the player to call a friend or to create a rescue mission.
