Care to explain how a DLC with +2 years and 100 people working on it, is only in pre-alpha so far ? how is this even possible ? Something doesn't add up here.. :)
Without going into too much specifics it can be:
  • micromanagement (example: Scam Citizen)
  • scope creep (example: Scam Citizen)
  • ambitious project scope from start
  • unforeseen problems appearing mid-implementation
  • teams being stalled by required core engine feature
  • building blocks being made first and then put together
  • major codebase rewrite
  • quality assurance amped to 11
  • ...

Software development is complex. I just wish it won't be a vr-less dud, is all.

I'm hoping that we get an update on the vision for Elite dangerous and our progress towards it as part of the lead up to the new era. I think the game would benefit greatly if players had a renewed sense of the direction in which the game is heading.

For instance I'd be interested if in the future if players may be able to build industrial facilities to produce commodities themselves, or if carriers will eventually behave like pieces on a (galazy sized) chessboard allowing us to enhance or disrupt other player activites, or if base building will ever be a thing.

Looks like you folks are losing your new fave CM:

Looks like @Tim Smith got a promotion to get away from us! Congratulations Tim on being the new lead CM on other Frontier products - Welcome Paul ?
Poor Tim lobbed a VR sized hand grenade in to the forum - hope it is more peaceful on the other products
