ANNOUNCEMENT Tritium Depot Refills

You might want to re-examine that claim. On a full cargo hold, perhaps?

The cargo hold also acts like a secondary fuel tank if you choose.. Jeez

So yes, on a deep space build you should have 26780 tonnes of fuel minimum, unless you are taking a shipyard for others, then you should at least expect your passengers to carry fuel to offset the 3000 tonne shipyard you have bought for them. It needs to be planned correctly.

Now obviously things are worse for those that want to provide services for others in the black, and have high mass carriers.

Well lucky me, my Tritium depot was full anyway so that will be a big fat zero benefit to me.

Well Bruce, whilst I'm here I might as well make the most of it. So can I request a change to how Tritium is moved from the Carrier Cargo to the Tritium depot?
I'm going to use role play as my example ok:
1. So as it stands, if my carrier needs refuelling using Tritium from the carrier's cargo, I've got instruct the carrier hanger crew to take Tritium from the carrier's cargo and load it onto my current ship.
2. I then have to tell the hanger crew to then immediately take it all off again and move it to the Tritium depot.
3. Bare in mind that we pay a huge weekly upkeep to keep these people in a job.
4. And also bare in mind I own and fund the Carrier and its whole operation.

I mean whichever way you look at this... it's stupid. Or maybe the unions run the ship?
Therefore can we please have some sort of sensible remote refuelling option, where we can send an order for the paid crew to move Tritium from the carrier cargo to the tritium depot without the actual commander of the Fleet Carrier having to do the manual work themselves?

Ever hopeful for some common sense.

Love you, UberMeg
Cant wait for a new patch that instructs the crew to jettison tritium overboard

You skipped a step.

1. Store my current ship if I was doing anything other than bulk trade and prep my flying cargo hold (in my case a T-9 that can't even leave the landing pad under its own power). Then reverse afterwards.

To all the people complaining: Fdev didnt have to give you anything. They could have very easily just sat back and waited on the patch, and left you with zero. They have said the tritium issue was a mistake, and that they are working on it. Give them some good will and let them work on it. Maybe even say thank you for listening and trying to alleviate the problem?

To Fdev: Thank you so much! This will help alot, and i cant even imagine how happy everyone in colonia is right now! Good luck with the patch, I hope its coming along smoothly :D

I'm sure it cost them a good amount of physical aversion to overcome and give out something for free. At least it wasn't just 3 Arx ppl can't buy anything with.

Hi Meg,

We're aware that Fleet Carrier owners would like to move Tritium more easily between the cargo hold and depot, thanks for this feedback.

That is good news! I hope you guys at fdev are also aware of other issues.. like balancing for example.
I'd even be happy about a reasonable explaination - why we can't have balanced activities.
"One of the things that we want to do, with the Alpha, and Beta tests, is to ensure that no one role, is a massive generator of cash. What I don't want, as a game like this is being forced to, forever asteroid mine or whatever it is...."

Is there any plans to make multiple planed FC jumps a thing? Its a huge pain to manually plot each jump wait 30 minutes between them, plot the next jump and so on for thousands of LY. Would really like it if you could program your carrier to travel to a destination and transfer fuel from cargo automatically (what am i paying my fuel depot crew to do anyway)

Thanks for the update Bruce, as annoying as waiting for a patch is I understand these things aren't fixed with the flick of a switch. Just one question, this free depot refill, will it be a daily thing or just a one time deal?

"You burned down my house!"

"Oh, we are sorry, we'll see what we can do about it. In the meantime, have this brick."

I agree that the gesture shows good will. It also shows a complete misunderstanding of the problem.

In the Bubble, where this amount of Tritium might be useful, most people buy their Tritium so aren't really affected by the mining blight. Out in the black, where you do need to mine Tritium, a thousand tons (at most) is next to nothing.

This is true, it doesn't come close to fixing the problem and is like a band aid on a gunshot wound. Its not trying to fix the problem though, as evidenced by the fact they are working on the patch and have said several times "we will fix it". using your analogy its more like "Oh crap i burned your house down. Have this blanket while i try and find you a hotel." Your free to be angry and its justified, but there are way too many people here just to complain that they didnt get free gas because they just bought some in the bubble.

Thanks for the update Bruce. I really appreciate the nice gesture of free FC fuel.

Whilst it doesn't affect me as my Fleet Carrier is currently in the bubble, I do think it's worth considering having this as a daily occurrence until the issue is fixed to help those stuck out in space far from civilisation.

Thanks again!

...

Or mine it as you need it, which I have been doing successfully since FCs dropped despite the recent problems, and making hundreds of millions in exploradata as well. Currently about 3000LY out from Sol and will be increasing that distance almost daily. But an extra 1kT reserve fuel would be welcome, except that Frontier didn't think their "goodwill gesture" through well enough to include all FC owners.

Who made the mistake were they and not us, stop being such a fanboy ... hahaha

Your free to be angry
To be fair, I'm not personally angry about this, so much as amused by the futility of the gesture. I argued during the beta for greatly increased Tritium mining rates and when they weren't forthcoming, decided my carrier wouldn't be leaving the Bubble: I was thinking about a circumnavigation of the galaxy and no amount of Tritium in cargo would last me through that.

For me the point of an exploration carrier is to spend less time travelling and more time exploring - not less time travelling and more time mining. A bit for variety, yes, but not full time. But apparently that's not the way the devs saw things. Oh well.

As for another great Botch 3 carrier-related nerf, the near-disappearance of cheap Tritium - can't say it makes me happy, but I did buy my carrier believing I'd be paying ca. Cr 40,000/t for Tritium, so if I now find myself paying ca. Cr 40,000/t for Tritium I'm not sure how loudly I'm justified in complaining.
