If CR appears to backers on this issue now, no matter what he says, he would be acknowledging there is a serious issue that warrants his majesty appearance.
If he shows up it would probably mean the situation is so dire that the acknowledgement is actually the better alternative.
Well it's the only way that SQ\d{2} or SC will get released this decade. And who knows what CR signed to get $50 million from those investors. A Freelancer style ending to all this could even result in an acceptable game. You know, with 10 star systems at launch, some Avorion like economy, mining and the usual pew pew.

I can see CR saying he had to retire die to health reason and Corona virus. He probably blame the tanking economy for devaluing the pledged money and social distancing meant he couldn't get A-listers into the studio to finish the mocapping for SQ42.

Admittedly, I'm pleased to see that there is a sizeable chunk of spectrum fighting back. A number of them have already been given vacations!

They did reach the limits of what they can do with the quickly hacked together monstrosity of an engine they are using. Also they have run out of excuses for not delivering hundreds of new planets in a timely manner so they can reach the promised 100 systems by 2030... Pyro will be a clear test of all of that, their famed "pipelines" and "procedural tech", the "but X tech was needed for Y to be done before Z !" has gone over X and Y by now and Z is not being delivered, and they are so obviously waffling around with that side project ToW so they are visibly not addressing the elephant in the room that is the PU ("but look ! we have a crappy battlefield clone ! shiny !") or even SQ42. This is miserable and stinks of desperation. Their latest communication reminds me of a headless chicken running around.
I wouldnt be surprised if their ranks were getting thinner by the day, with devs seeing the writing on the wall..
