Newcomer / Intro Joined the Galaxy!

Hey people. I want to say hi to you all. I joined ED roughly a month ago. (I saw Jingles made vlogs about it and ED/ H was on sale. And I wanted to give it a shot. So far I love this game. Quickly learned the very basics: how to ram into a star, ask questions now, start shooting later. I did my homework on all the "how to" vids/ sites/ this forum and I am amazed how diverse this game actually is. Politics, economics, combat, exploration, mining, missions, ranks, ships and upgrades. Every time I think "yeah I think I get it now, something new pops up."
The economics are a piece of cake for me. I'm now 80%-ish Tycoon: mining, delivery boy missions turning into small trade routes and running through the EDDB to watch the markets for demand and sales. With my beloved Asp XP I netted short of a billion already.
Now I'm on my first, let's call it practice exploration mission. Leaving the "bubble" with it's petty fights and nagging people. There's 800M on my account so I feel I can't be arsed with the missions/ passenger missions that much anymore. "Deliver this E-mail to a station 600k LS away from it's star for 500.000. And ships will be sent after you." Yeah? Go do it yourself. Those pennies don't even cover my insurance... So far the exploration is going nicely. Though now I fully realize the extreme value of the "fix all" button in a station!!! I learned the hard way I can't fix my reactor with my AFMS (?) and it can't fix itself. So I'm 100% more para on avoiding dmg.

Things I don't really like/ questions if that can be changed imgame:
EVERY time I equip for mining/ change weapons I get the notification "you need to change the weapon groups." Twice. YEAH I KNOW already! Can that be switched off?
My inventory looks like a mess. Can the same items be "stacked" into 1 icon instead of having to see a line of 4 tier 4 cargo racks in a row?
The meta alloy. I love to find out things myself. But I had to look that one up and, as far as known, it's sold on only 1 lousy planet in the whole game... Sure, make it rare/ hard to get but only 1 place? I think that's lame. It'd be impossible to figure that out without Google. I'm actually wondering who did find it the first place
What does "influence" do? I know what it does but I don't see how increasing influence of clowns using me for delivery errands is benefiting me.
I started in the Federation and got a few permits for systems. I went to Sol right away. Expecting a dyson swarm, 'O Neil cylinders, space elevators and a Lunar city filled moon. Only to find a few freaking boring agricultural stations... Yes, Mars has been terraformed. But I can't even land on it. Neither on Earth! I expected ED to have linked with Googlemaps so I can drive my SRV over Broadway 24/7!!
The abrasion laser bug. I thought I was the only one but I found the same problem elsewhere on the forum. When I finally find a core asteroid with all imaginable recources except for the one I expected from the "hotspot," blow it up, the abrasion laser won't shoot off the chunks coming from inside the asteroid. I know: git gud but even I should be able to hit it eventually from 15 meters away. Very disheartening to have to leave milions worth of chunks. I saw the solution might be not to touch the asteroid with mining lasers of shoot of chunks before detonating it. But I think that's silly. Some LTD core asteroids also have "normal inside LTD" resources. I'd say: please fix this. And while you're at it fix the 1 chunk spawning inside an asteroid part bug! My moron limpits always take that one as their prime target and die off like soldiers at the Somme

Oh heck....Wall of txt. Sorry about that. Last thing: I'm playing soylo. I don't need trolls to ruin my day with OP upgraded ships. Is there any incentive to go PvP?

To answer a few questions in no particular order...

Yes, if you change the weapons in your hard points, you'll be reminded. Once your fire groups are finished, that will cease. AFAIK anyway.

There is no stacking as such. Each cargo item type is unique so only the same types go together.

The meta alloy search is a learning tool really, and can be treated as an adventure. There is, however, a chap with a thread on this forum offering a way of bypassing this.

Earth and Mars have atmospheres. No driving or, indeed, landing on atmospheric worlds until, maybe. ODYSSEY. Well, it's a big thing apparently.

All things mining are out of whack at the moment so best to retry Monday when the patch to the patch of the patch's patch comes in.

Changing weapons (or whatever): Yes, you're going to be reminded every time. No, you can't switch it off. Yes, you will become immune to it. And shortly after you will be wondering why you can't shoot your big guns - just before your ship explodes, usually.
Which inventory are you talking about? In the outfitter? Nope, can't be changed. In the ship's inventory (right side HUD), all stuff is thrown together.
Meta Alloy: patience, Grashopper. How do you think we found out where to find it five years (?) ago when Engineers were introduced? Only in-game hints were available (and no station to buy it from, that came later), but a few thousand CMDRs scanning all the planets quickly (well, more or less) found the Barnacle sites. So no, MAs aren't available in only one place (unlike other things - I take it you haven't found out about Kamitra Cigars or Fujin Tea yet :p), there are lots of places on lots of planets where you can pick them up - free for the taking. Of course, there are people and things who have a dim view about that...
INF: not if you're not interested in further business with these clowns. That's another layer of the game you haven't discovered yet - the BGS (Background Story/Simulation). Pushing INF around lets you determine who will govern a specific system (or more than one). You want an Anarchy? Push up an Anarchy faction. You want to prevent others pushing up an Anarchy? Well, then you have to help the other factions. You want to see what happens when The Dark Wheel enters the Sol system? Gather a few hundred other like-minded CMDRs with a couple of BGS masterminds, and start Turning The Wheel...
Abrasion Blaster: hopefully (keeping fingers crossed) fixed with next Monday's patch
PvP: PvE can become boring. And there are a few good to very good PvP players around who want to train people up, show them how to evade unwanted attention or even put out a bounty for any player who can kill them in a fight under defined conditions - check Sir Ganksalot's thread, he also offers anti-gank training. It's entirely up to you.

Open isn't all about l33t PvP skills.

It's learning that no matter the ship, smart flying can get you through to your destination no matter the odds.

There's nothing more satisfying than leaving killers grasping at shadows.

Thanks for the answers! I'm a world of warships veteran. So I am pretty used to patches for patches over patches to fix a patch. (-;. I left wows mainly because of the carriers.... (-;

I mean my mining build equipment stored in the bases. In the inventory each item is showed seperately. Even if they're exactly the same. I was wondering if there's a way to let the game show me I have 3 cargo bays of the same type in 1 icon instead of seeing them all 3. It can be tiresome to search through the inventory to change builds. I'm too cheap to buy a new mining specialized ship....

The stored modules... nope, no way around having to scroll through all instances of each type of item. Be glad it's only 4 - the fun starts once you get PowerPlay special items, buy 10 of each before leaving that power and store them in different places all over the Galaxy. Take that part of the UI as a reminescence to ED's origins, before we had mice and everything had to be organized in lists 🤷‍♂️.

The best way to eliminate the fire groups message is to have dedicated ships for each role you want to do. As a new player that's a stretch perhaps. But I am a big proponent of having ships tailored to each role. My covey of Kraits can attest!

Mining especially, as that is the one role where you have to change so many slots. Even if you chop and change your other muti-role vessels to suit the role, you should make a dedicated mining ship so you can just grab it and go.
