Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Salty thread on Spectrum

And someone being a tad optimistic.

Might have been on safer ground asking about this decade rather than year...

That bass player slot means filling really huge, huge boots, as the original band member was quite legendary himself, a true ace (of spades)...

Couldnt try the 3.10, too much work and such, this will be happening this weekend though.
I can't really play SC at the minute, even if I could be bothered...pre-loading HZD for tomorrow's release and my net connection isn't up to playing multiplayer games while downloading...plus Desert Wings:Tobruk has distracted me somewhat.

Wellington bombers launching torpedos? Hell yes 🤟

He wasn't the original original though, and didn't join until 1971 :D

Hawkwind have had some truly fierce bassists over the years, and although the last gig I saw (2019) was pretty good, and even forgiving the equipment failures - bass was lacking compared to what they have had before.

This is relevant to Star Citizen as I want to play air-bass on my mop as I scrub the floors of Idrises.

<cough>
I am the centre of the physics grid
The wind of time is refactoring through me
And it's all desyncing relative to me
It's all a figment of my mind
In a 'Verse that Crobs designed
He'll probably be charged with embezzlement
Has the world gone mad or is it another 30K?
<grabs coat>

Well, first 2 minutes of devs talking about how they hope bug fixes improve things and how to take feedback from players into something they can use.

Oh god, hobo lando.... no, i can't watch any more.

Skipped foward. Heard the phrase staggered development - lol, that's proven to be a dead duck and a load of tripe.

Tux the penguin archered by CIG.

Lots of waffling from Lando about what one day might be but doesn't actually exist.

Woo hoo, a new gun.

Fire hazards... ugh. "To say lots of players are excited about the gameplay possibilities of this would be an understatement" - seriously? Like lots of players were excited about prison gameplay?

Ugh, too much Lando. Need to go wash my brain now.

Latest "hello" from The Agent

As usual, take with a pinch of salt, but fun reading.

We've missed our Third Deadline [sic] in as-many [sic] months. The pressure [from the top] of supplying the alpha Squadron Forty-Two [sic] VS has turned into pressure about supplying the Full-Early-Access [sic] Beta. Things are broken because we continue to iterate and change our core mechanics. Our programmers are stretched thin. There's only so many problems you can paint over before the cracks start to show beneath.

The oversight entity [sic] has the option of forcing [Chris] Roberts away from any decisions regarding Squadron Forty-Two & Star Citizen & the additional Gamemodes Theaters of War & Cooperative Construction [supposedly a building and social module]. They will leverage that by the end of this year. They were told Four Full-Gamemodes [sic] would be online by Christmas this year. We are unable to deliver those promises made in December 2017 to this entity and to the additional promises made to more recent entities.

I do fear that [the company] is moving to a more productive place but at the cost of good & talents [sic] people. Where are we without a leader like [Chris]? Everything we are here is because of him. Lost confidence could be doom for us. Where would we go during this? I worry about myself and my coworkers and my family now.

"Where would we be without a leader like Chris?" - lol, well, maybe there would be a game.

I don't know, that part makes me suspicioius that someone is taking the urine.

I know I'm a bit dumb and old fashioned and only ever deal with ancient IBM monstrosities - but could someone kindly explain to me how iteration changes core mechanics?

He's saying that they keep changihng core mechanics with each iteration.

Its like trying to build a road over a bridge but every month they reconstruct the bridge.

But if you iterate a bridge - you build it out of one span, and it doesn't work.

You iterate two spans, and it still doesn't work.

You iterate three spans, and you finally get somewhere.

You then further iterate four and five spans to make improvements, optimisations, and look toward methodology change to make your "fourth" span the initial build template for all subsequent bridges that fall under challenges that can be met with that technology and resources, and note any further improvements for future implementation.

You don't go about forgetting what a bridge even is and try to sell stuffed penguins whilst forgetting where your mic is.

YOU DONT UNDERSTAND BRIDGE DEVELOPMENT YOU HATER :p
