How feasible is this gossip posted on reddit several days ago?

It’s one of the more feasible ones for me. We know Turbulent have moved into both video work and then dev work for CIG, just going by their hires etc. Could totally see them making a play for more work.

And we all know of Chris’s love for sizzle reels and duct-taped demos. Not just for fans, but for publishers too...

If you're a publisher you can visit me and I can show you the milestone, but you have no idea if behind the scenes I've got it jury-rigged or whatever.

We’ll probably never know for sure if any of it is true. But it’s definitely one of the most amusing 'just so' stories about the current mess ;)

Here's a little ditty i wrote on the refunds sub.

To the tune of When I go out with artists by the Crash Test Dummies

When I go out with backers
They talk about pledging and the Idris and the Kraken
And I try to catch their meanings
And keep up with all the Evocati
I don't know which should be my favorite JPGs

If I could see, if I could see, if I could
See all the packages, pay for what they contain
Maybe I could, maybe I could, maybe I
Could meet the devs, and get to know them personally

Here's the song for anyone not familiar with it.

They might still have a shot getting SQ42 out the door for 2021. But if any of this is true (especially the part where CI is trying to keep the devs employed given the pandemic) then that's going to be a no go
I don’t think SQ42 chapter one could stand against the Star Wars squadron campaign. Seeing the latest gameplay videos I think CI-g will have an hard time for their FM and UI Team.

from a technical point of view....no. But as a story driven campaign it could score points in regards to writing and story tho I m not sure people are all that interested in an interactive novel. Lore is great for some, not so important to many and if you spend half of your playtime keeping your hands in your lap watching cutscenes I m not sure people will think that is "money well spent" but what do I know? And to be quite frank, its not like we have a Hugo Award level artist available for this.

I doubt we ll see anything of SQ42 anytime soon. Even if the investors apply pressure and push for a release you cant release what you dont have eh? So maybe we should look to next years competition or beyond for a comparison?

That is true. Maybe SQ42 waits with the release date until no other competitor is on the market? I mean they are unable to release a simple video and struggling again with some information about SQ42.
They are also failing to deliver a simple CE level (ToW). But what i don’t understood is how blind those backers still are. All the broken promises all the clearly incompetence to deliver something and they are still throwing money at those “scammers“.

Turbulent is taking over more and more development responsibilities, because they can plan and hit target dates and the investors like that. [Turbulent] mentioned that they could do the game for a tenth of what [Roberts] promised.

I can't see how that is possible - even without CR interference I can't see how they can fix the underlying issues with the game (desync, crashes, elevator death, etc etc ) without a change in Game Engine - and that probably means re-implementing the whole game nearly from scratch. Maybe possible to re-write the game for 10%, but it would still take a long, long, time - and I can't see backers patiently waiting for another 3+ years for that to happen.

Though given the alternative is to stagger on, never ever finishing the game ....

A story by Chris Roberts

STARRING

Space Buldozers!
Kzin!
And being quiet in space to avoid detection!
Let's not forget the other story by Chris Roberts, starring
A complex character being reconned into the most obvious stereotype that, as part of what made him complex, he had fought against over 2 games and 4 expansions.
A well-established and sensibly grown romantic counterpart being stuffed in the fridge to make room for a false-dichotomy choice between gameplay advantage and p**nstar footage.
Nuclear genocide being the answer to all your problems.
Every conversation ending with [actor sighs, exits camera left].

Quasars at the edge of our solar system!
...
don't
tempt
me
...

They could probably do it in 2-3 years. Otherwise it would become stale.

All they would need is backers to fund just a bit more money.

Perhaps if the funding goes well they could add some stretch goals.

Genuine Roberts must have been a Laserbeak fan back in the 80's.

Honestly, who wasn't a Laserbeak fan? Although I'm more a Shockwave guy myself. Flying handguns next?
But to be fair, I didn't get Laserbeak vibes from the Talon. Let me think what it reminds me about...
Talon - Any similarity with the Milano and the battle of Xandar is purely coincidental.
... well, that's it.

The Agent has generally been quite accurate with regards to info .... I wonder how much Calder can salvage by giving it to Turbulent or can it even be salvaged ? I am sure there will come a point where they have to cut their losses.

Do the folks over on the Star Citizen Reddit know something we dont ??

days to launch.JPG

So that makes it 22nd August 2026 ?

Edit:

Seems someone has a sense of humour on the Reddit, looking at the code:

That is the text associated with the "Currently viewing count" :)
