Elite Dangerous: Odyssey | The Road To Odyssey Part 1 - One Giant Leap

The men are rugged, and the women are bubbleheads. I am disappointed by that. Where's my utility belt?

It does look pretty, but we'll need more to do. Hopefully there's more meat on the bones to come.

I respect your POV.
Instead I'm still very upset with FDEV so I can't get excited with these few improvements shown here.
Obviously I would much rather play it in VR, but one thing is for sure: I have never mastered being able to take decent screenshots in VR so haven't taken any in a long time. Forced playing pancake will mean I can take some decent ones, and may need an additional terrabyte of storage just for them.

lol if you dont like our objections to the lack of VR then it's working.

protest has to be intrusive or it doesnt mean anytihng

thing is, you already have an official answer about it. to keep protesting just for the sake of protesting is a bit pointless tbh, and disruptive. voicing complaints is a nice thing, and im all for it. but it seems like you're doing it just for fun at this point. because the answer is already there.

Yeah, not a huge fan so far of the new art style. The new suits, helmets, jetpack, weapons, sampling tool all look more 'NMS' than Elite. I hope that's just the Gutamaya stuff. :p

They wanted the vegetation to be plausible but seem to have gone full anime with the rifles.
Of course - Warhammer 40K "talk softly - and carry a big gun"....

Speak for yourself. Entering the Forgotten Vale and Blackreach for the first time in Skyrim on Xbox 360 literally took my breath away.
Very good example actually. The same was true for me when I played Skyrim on PC when it came out. Then about 1.5 years ago I stepped into Blackreach in SkyrimVR and I can tell you that the difference completely blew my mind.

Edit: Back in the 90’s I was blown away by the graphics of the original X-Com too. It is a moving target.

VR peeps, I understand your disappointment at VR not being at launch, I take that very specific phrase to mean, 'not at launch'. I suggest that one implication of it is that they hope to introduce it later, otherwise they might have said 'not at all'. So when you keep telling FD they they won't be getting your money, I reckon what you actually mean is, "You won't be getting my money at launch, all going well, you'll be getting my money later."

Before you tell me that it is unfair that VR peeps will have to wait later for the release, hi, I play on PS4, tell me about the pain of it.

Greetings...

sorry but NO VR, NO BUY

What I see here will not convince me to buy it without VR compatibility.
I mean... tenuous atmosphere still sounds like a joke in my head to be honest and I can clearly see that the ship interiors argument is largely avoided.

I think the game really needs some cool feature like gameplay inside ships, dramatic atmospheric entry effect and dangerous weather with planets that can potentially destroy your ship if you're not well equipped. The game also need challenge and danger on the planet surface with high risks associated to high rewards (I'm not talking about thargoids). What I see here does not suggest this so I'm not holding my breath...
This is the nonsense I'm talking about.

...the first time that you get out and you actually see your ship in front of you and you understand how massive these ships actually are...

...you are millimetres away from the vacuum or from a thin atmosphere...

...the idea that you're closed in this suit and can hear your own breathing...

...when you actually set foot on a planet...

...like you're literally touching the ground...

...now you can really do it...

So there's VR then?
When's VR?
This all sounds like it'd be very exciting, in VR.
VR?

What is this....??? Do we really need to destroy every planet that we explore? I mean this thing is huge... Isn't it maybe out of scale? :ROFLMAO:

How else can you talk to other people? Speaking?

This is me planting a tree a minute ago:

That way every VR please post could be stopped in its tracks forever.
I'll bet you a fleet carrier that if DB were to say, "No VR coming to Odyssey ever!" that the VR crowd would become even more vocal (myself included). The only thing that would stop every "VR please post" is if he said, "We changed our minds and are providing FULL VR support upon release." That is not going to happen, I can assure you.

Dear Frontier, not this post does not represent everyone who owns VR. If Odyssey lives up to these videos, I'll buy it, VR or not.

That said, please consider at least giving us VR seats on atmospheric worlds 🤗

I'm a VR boy, and I'm kinda embarrassed at how my comrades are behaving... We're not all like this!
The voice of reason.

(sometimes ;) )
