Anyway, nice to see CIG have invented Gantt charts.

Oh, wait, they already did that 3 years ago...

The wheel of time turns...
That is not a Gantt chart anyways. It is a cool mash up of nice color bars though.

This roadmap would be the... what? 4th or 5th iteration of the roadmap? Any particular sign this time around it will actually be of any use for anyone ?

But that is just by the by. What is the status of readiness of the SQ42 beta stated for Q2 and then for Q3 this year?
Basically this new silliness is standard Chris handwavium to avoid talking about real state of SC and SQ42.

I often put much of the blame on Chris, but he's not alone, he's surrounded by a court of yes men he can be proud of. Even if he's out eventually, that won't magically restore my confidence to the project.

Agile isn't an excuse not to meet deadlines, in fact the Agile Manifesto is all about providing quality early and then iterating. Agile is all about reducing scope to maintain quality and measuring the velocity that your teams can complete work so that you can provide accurate plans.

"Alpha" is not a term I would use to describe a quality product.

There is nothing in that manifesto about promising a load of features, expecting the customer to make do with an Alpha and telling them they "don't understand development" when they start to wonder if they will ever recieve a robust released product or any of the features they expected.

Was too tired about repeating that so many times to so many people... Thank you for your effort haha.
And yeah on a proper Agile project you actually can lay out a very realistic roadmap (much more than waterfall projects, actually) once you have the velocity measurements, which is really quick to do.

In my line of work, heavy capital intensive projects with life cycles of decades in some cases even, agile is anathema. Deadlines are intrinsic to the expression of the value opportunity and business case to start with. Without them, there is no project.

Here in Mainframeland - as soon as the lightytighties even mention the word "agile" they are likely to receive several reams of output with the 0 as the only legible character :D

1) Not everyone has a life expectancy of 20 years.
2) 20 years from now, we won't be using computers or game consoles for video games. We'll be connected to a neural network.
Neural networks replacing computers in just twenty years?
Yeah, I can see why you backed Star Citizen.
Next up, Nvidia releasing 3080TI's with 100% performance increase and 0% price increase from the previous generation model, the 2080ti. $1200 for glorious gaming.
I too, like to imagine and envision a future that is pleasurefully pleasant.

Nvidia will no longer exist. The images will be projected onto our brains. Cig will still exist, and will announce a delay for sc beta, having to adapt to the new technology.
Maybe the neural network will finish the game for them.
Optimist!

Hmm I think someone is confusing learning algorithms with something you stick on your face in black mirror

The roadmap for the roadmap is here! REJOICE!

Thanks.

Of course, I pretty much stopped reading when CIG started out with a rather blatant lie:

Cloud Imperium Games said:
Star Citizen has always been predicated on open and transparent development. From day one, we vowed to share our progress with the community and open our doors to present the journey of creating the Best Damn Space Sim Ever.

Sorry CIG. From day one, Chris Roberts lied through his teeth, and then he and and company (that would be you, BTW) have been lying to us every since. If you want me to believe a thing you say, start by apologizing for your past misdeeds, not attempting to rewrite history again.

New PTU patch
MPORTANT: We have turned off pledge copy so players will only start with an Aurora ES and a Greycat ROC. We have given all PTU accounts 15 million aUEC to purchase ships from in game shops to test a fix to ships persisting in LTP. (If you had a previous PTU account you will start with your old ships/aUEC/items. Please recopy to get a fresh one so that you get the aUEC for testing) Please spawn in a location that sells ships (Area18 or Lorville) and purchase as many ships as you can with this as we will be doing random database resets throughout this PTU cycle to test the persistence of these ships. We would also like players to test character resets after using the ships for a while to make sure they are not removed.

Well, Agile is going out of fashion anyway. All the cool kids are now talking about CI/CD.
