Elite Dangerous: Odyssey | The Road To Odyssey Part 1 - One Giant Leap

Oh I want both, basically the same as Star Citizen which am a backer as well. It would really be something with all the star systems & planets too actually get out & explore on foot in caves or old ruins. I hope its sooner rather than later.

Well at least the folks I know, and it is worth mentioning that is exactly why they don't play anymore because Frontier dragged their feet on this for way too long. One only needs to look at the decline in the player base to see that.

Terrain looks great.
Haze also
Plants wow - wish for a big variety to make it look realistically random.

I'm one that was not too keen on space-legs but if it will provide a new perspective of scale....ok I guess that's good.

As regards some complaints on not being able to walk in ship - unless there is some gameplay associated with it I'm not bothered. If walking in ship was integrated with manual ship repair (in case the AFMU magic is removed) then walking in ship would be good. Also walking in ship would have been good if one could get out of ship - spacewalk to destroyed ship and salvage parts manually. But I don't see that done so in-ship space legs is pretty much useless waste of design resources.

One last thing - there have been some (non-gameplay related) things that need corrections in game since a long time, I for one and probably not alone - even though maybe a minority would be so much happy to see them fixed.
If I recall well there are some typos, planets that in lore should be one type but in map are another (Prism system... ;) ), Earth like/terraformable worlds where there are beacons related to the planned exhodus, an explanation why phobos and deimos are not there (either place them back if it was a mistake or put a visitor beacon and say they have been mined out)
Support and take care of the Lore....🙏
E : D is just another space sim if the lore is abandoned.

I wonder if the problem with ship interiors is in fact the opposite - that our ships dont have much insides - there isnt much space high enough to walk around in even on an anaconda.
My guess is that whilst ship interiors were always on the long term plan, they have boxed themselves into a corner with the design, and now it's an absolute pig to implement.

This has me concerned as well. You'd think they would have more stuff ready and locked in with the amount of development time they say they put into Odyssey.
Two possible explanations I can think of 1) FDev`s software development approach is haphazard and doesn't follow the traditional software development lifecycle, or 2) The decisions have already been made, and they are being coy.

Yes and that's a BIG change... As I already said somewhere else: "It's a giant leap" in the wrong direction.
If it was a binding contract I would file a sue case.
I'm genuine disappointed instead and I have all rights to complain because of that evidence.
I totally get that. The response on the forums to not getting what people were led to believe is completely understandable, and we all know that FDev is often found wanting when it comes to their messaging. But we are where we are. Much like accepting the foibles of a loved one, if you really love the game, then it's probably better to accept the flaws and focus on whats good.

Frontier really needs to reevaluate not being able to walk around on ships with the initial Odyssey release as this was why everyone looked forward to space legs in the first place in addition to walking around on planets.

Okay, but just because you ask the same question multiple times, that doesn't guarantee a different answer. FDev may have boxed themselves in quite badly, making this a real pain to implement in a way that fulfills the original design goal.

Neither am I. It would be nice to walk around for a little while, but if it's just an empty shell then that's going to get tired pretty quickly. Perhaps if they integrated some game design around loadouts for spacelegs it would be okay, but then we`d all be screaming that ships don't have loadouts but commanders do...

It's a product that has had, for me, most of it's functionality taken away, with no guarantee that it will be reinstated. If I don't install the update, will I get a refund on my LTE pass?

Also, what is this "foibles of a loved one" nonsense. Are you really comparing a video game to friends and family?

I think you already know the answer to that. I`d be upset as well if I`d purchased an LTE pass. As far as I can tell, It was a con.

I`m suggesting that if you still want to stick with the game, then focusing on the bad stuff isn't going to help your enjoyment. And lets be fair, Fdev are not going to change their stripes.

This is your description of a company that we should buy games from, as long as we only focus on the good stuff? They sound like the worst company ever.

The reports of no next gen version is extremely troubling. Shows a lack of commitment to the platform. My hype is pretty low for this right now and I went from a definite buy to a pass just that quick.

But it does mean that it can be played on the PS5, right? It just won’t support every bells and whistles that the PS5 has to offer from day 1.

Not me, I'm happy with the way ships are kitted out atm. I would love to have loadouts options for my Commander though, makes sense too.

You'd get up from your seat, walk towards the door in the back of the cockpit, you step into an elevator/stair/hallway of sorts (depending on the size of the ship) get to the airlock, choose a loadout dependent on what you set out to do. Fade to black and you are outside your ship at the appropriate exit.

I don't need a fully fleshed out interior to my ship, just some useful parts (like they have done in Star Trek Online). Cockpit, CMDR's quarters, acces to SRV/Fighter bay and an preproom adjacent to the airlock which takes you outside. That's all I would need.

If they however decide to fully flesh out ships interiors I'll gladly take it.
