Elite Dangerous: Odyssey | The Road To Odyssey Part 1 - One Giant Leap

The thing is that quite many people from the player base want interiors to be included. Only doing stuff on the almost bare planets it's not enough for a paid DLC. It should be a free update in that case.
I want interiors too. You're missing the point. You're not saying above what matty said.

He said he ONLY wants legs in ships, sod the FPS on alien worlds. He's entitled to that opinion, it's not mine and I suspect not yours.

I mean we only need legs in ED for spaceships and space stations interactions.
If we want to play FPS on alien worlds we already have tonnes fo wonderful games to do so...

Yes. I want to do stuff outside as well inside.

We don't know what it all entails yet. I'm just happy we get basic atmospheric planets and Elite feet. I wasn't expecting both, I was only expecting one, so it's a nice surprise for me. Sure you may not be able to do everything with Elite feet yet, but I wasn't expecting to either. I was hoping they would concentrate on missions which it looks like they may have done. Hopefully they will expand in that with missions with EVA in space in the not too distant future too.

Just saw the Dev Diary video, and a lot of the video is about walking around on planets, which is cool and all...but personally, I'd much rather walk around stations or my own ships! I'd be much more eager to throw money at something that lets me tour my Cobra or (future) Corvette.

By the way, I'll be looking forward to the 5 days that all the new additions are still mysterious, before the community has unveiled literally everything new that Odyssey has to offer.
traveling a planet with SRV is already slow, so walking on a planet is only time diluttion and more grind

Or they can just tell us. It's not like they don't have dev kits.

That assumes they are proactively looking at this, and I don't think that's a dead cert.

If they are not at all looking at next-gen console development, then it's possible that they have decided to hope for the best and only react if an issue is found by PS5 owners.

I`m sure they will not be alone in that behaviour.

I doubt that being able to walk around is going to replace the SRV.

It's not time dilution or more grind.

the gameplay is not different then we have now, you leave your ship with srv, you get out it fades to black and you stand beside it, then you walk around and then summon your srv to you, or walk back to it, we have now already see two time a glimps of Odessey and in none it did show oyu could step out your SRV or walk out your ship

I know that Fdev are not at the pinnacle of game design, but hell - if you couldn't get in and out of an SRV whilst on the surface of a planet (even if that means fade to black transitions) then it would be pathetically bad design; nay unusable.
Exactly, makes no sense that you wouldnt be able to go from ship -> srv -> foot. Land over the hill from the objective, drive close, go on foot. Or land, drive in srv around biologicals, getting out taking samples, and getting some epic screen shots :sneaky:

And you know this how? You played the expansion? And all you are describing are some transitions. I really don't care that much about those too much.

They are launching planet coaster on next gen systems. They are looking into it. They have the kits. Stop making excuses for them.

Nobody outside of Fdev knows for sure, but to be fair, its a pretty reasonable price of guesswork / speculation, given that this expansion has to play nice with horizons - so the fade to black transition would logically sit in between the horizons content (the SRV) and the odyssey content (space legs). Perhaps you would get two on-ship options to disembark from the ship - one on foot, and the other via the SRV (which also has the option to disembark from)

Again, all just speculation. But seems plausible based on what we know today

Sure it's plausible, but as I said, they are transition and I don't really care about that too much. Transition does not equal Gameplay. We have no idea what gameplay is going to be available on planet surfaces. We have seen a tiny amount which is someone walking along with the sample tool. That's it.

For someone then to go and say they know exactly what gameplay is going to be on planets for legs and that it will be the exact same gameplay we have in our SRVs just sounds somewhat premature unless they have played the expansion and know all about it already.

Indeed. I`m personally curious to know if what we get on day 1 (in terms of Space legs gameplay) will be everything - or if there will be additional expansions that build upon (and therefore require) The Odyssey expansion.

It seems to be that on-planet gameplay is an obvious place to develop a whole load of gameplay elements, but it seems the gateway to those would be through the odyssey expansion.

Again, just speculation.

It is interesting that we don't know for sure if this really is an all-in-one dlc as they had suggested a few years ago, ie moving away from "seasons". We actually don't know for sure yet, may be they haven't decided themselves yet.

They showed the SRV on one of the screens, IIRC the ice planet one. Apart from that, it can drive along at speed, collect things, scan things and shoot at things, plus carrying 2t of stuff. Which rather limits the usefulness of people on foot and not the other way round IMHO. In fact, I expect more kinds of SRV in Odyssey, as in the early artwork, all of them featuring their own purchasable paintjobs and things, maybe spoilers even. With people on foot, I'm sure the grind will stay, but it will be a different kind of grind. What was the 4th (or in fact, 5th) rank named, xenobiology specialist?

And extensions to the C&P systems are inevitable, as you might likely cause car accidents or run over CMDRs on foot in the SRV. Or take them as hostage and put them into the cargo rack, but I doubt they will implement such emergent gameplay ;)

O7,
🙃

Maybe we can enter buildings? That's something the SRV's would have hard time doing. Sorry, I mean, not we. You.

I'm gonna be playing something else until VR comes back, until then the expansion could be about stomping Goombas for all I care.
