Walking Inside Ships Was Never Advertised Anyway...

When I said in this forum that I wanted a way to fuel my carrier out in the black that didn't involve mining, because I found mining both extremely difficult and incredibly boring, there were a great many members that told me...

"It's easy"... "It was advertised mining would be the only way"... "It's the only way to do it, stop complaining"... "You just want the game made easier for you"... "You'll never be happy"... "I mine and don't find it difficult at all"

So this is a personal message to all of those same people who are now throwing their toys out of their prams because they won't be able to walk around ships and space stations in Odyssey...

I won't do it so why would anybody else want to. It was never advertised you'd be able to do this so stop complaining. Seriously, you'll never be happy. The game is fine as it is, you've got planets to walk around, that's all you need.

It took me a long time to learn to do mining (after they changed it to what we have now), and I still don't understand how to do sub-surface mining or deep-core mining, but laser mining really is easy ONCE YOU KNOW HOW TO DO IT .... but I do understand why you find it hard, because I did as well. I wouldn't ever dismiss your opinion though just because I can do something you struggle with, that's simply not fair on you.

I want ship interiors, and I'll trot out a line often used with previous features .... just because you won't use it, doesn't mean the rest of us won't. There's no reason why there can't be the option to teleport to outside your ship AND the ability to walk through the ship to outside. It doesn't have to be only one option.

You're right OP. It was never even hinted at.

Like I say, no feature is confirmed until you install the patch.

I want to see something that i scant see in my ship man....

To be fair it was something mentioned in Kickstarter days and there's a video of David Braben talking about it floating around in .. cough .. another duplicate thread probably.

That said, because of the way the SRV works (and because I'm mostly more interested in the mission than the transition in game) I certainly won't be gutted if Odysesy #1 gets feet stable and ship insides come at a later date, hopefully WITH something relatively meanigful to do, besides frying procedurally generated eggs.

Things change man....we see our ship inside...i want to dee a ship from outitde...i look arond my cockpit, cool...i want to get a feeling from this game. my life is all about logic and truth, i want to look at something unreal and breath in

There is all sorts of gameplay that could be tied to fps play in ship interiors. From passenger extraction/assassination, to piracy, to sabotage, to out right theft of a ship.
Why are so many acting like ship interiors would just be playing house?

I know that, but I just couldn't resist pointing and laughing at people who are only interested in changes to the game when it's something that affects them ;)

Can't you just make their minds up? I swear some people are trying to torture me for the secret energy technology. Normally education is a good things, but they are depraved and will take the rest of the galaxy with them to hell.

But CMDR, just imagine how cool it would be to get up out of your chair, walk to your locker, put on your spacesuit, and then walk to the airlock... so you can EVA over to an asteroid, then mine 1 handful of tritium at a time, with the new grabber claw thing.

Think of the immersion, CMDR. It would be everything we've dreamed of, and more.

The fact that there issn't currently anything to do with ship interiors doesn't mean it can't be implemented. We have landable planets after all (I know, I know...). Adding new features to existing ones is probably easier than introducing bunch of new features at once.

My take on it is that having the option to do "nothing" on planets is still better than not having that option. I bought a galactic sim sci-fi space game though and like mucking around in it from time to time. YMMV
