Could Odyssey unlock the Cobra Mk IV again?

Perhaps FDev should do an Exclusive an 'Imperial Clipper II' with retractable pontoons (medium pad) for players that paid full price for Both the Basegame and Horizons (retroactive), and another, perhaps a 'Python II' (longer Jump range) for players that purchased a second (alt) account at full price during Lent or Ramadan 2019.

Then we could flood FDev with ideas for Exclusives and they can roll them out on a lottery basis to keep the forums bursting with rage and lols

...
the MK IV was an exclusive, and breaking that word now means that any exclusive release in the future used to encourage players to buy in early will be laughed at.

Yeah that Exclusive thing...
It was offered for PC guys who bought the game* by jan 2016 and was again Exclusive for guys that bought the XBox game July 2016!
I'm sure you could look up the dates were you to be bothered, but that by my reckoning makes it only exclusive'ish

* Edit for Clarity : 'Game' being Horizons

You're making some pretty unwelcome assumptions. I've never seen any of the information you mentioned, nor any comments of posts by other players about the Cobra Mk IV.
Here you go then. Sorry, but if you had of done a search for threads with Cobra Mk IV in the title you would see how many there are.

Hey sorry for the delay in coming back on this one, took me a while to ask the right people as this was before my time here.

The Cobra MK IV was an excluve reward to PC and XBOX players that upgraded to Horizons within a year (I believe) and will not be coming to PS4.

I know this is not the answer you hoped for, I am sorry about that but I would rather tell you how it is rather than give you any false hope.

not this again... FDev messed up big time in not doing this a timed exclusive, they did it "eternal".

So now you have to contend with three groups of players in regard to the Cobra Mk IV

* Those who do not have access, so they of course want access...This is the the group making these requests...

* Those who do have access and do not care if the ship made available to everyone

* Lastly those who ahve access and what it to be Exclusive, just because it is an exclusive ship. They want FDev to honour their word, and would be quite upset if this ship would be availably to anyone... these are the ones you have to persuade that this would be a good idea...

So it does not matter what FDev do, they will upset people in first or last group... And the safest course of action for FDev is to let the status quo be...
Well I'm number 2, kind of number 1 too as I have an alt who would like the MkIV

But if you are going to try and get people to give you money based partially on the fact that they will get something exclusive for doing do, you can't then decide to change the terms later without giving people their money back if they object, so 3 wins.

Cobra Mk IV. It's not all that.

It's like noticing that supposedly brilliant game in your steam library that you played but bounced off for some reason, but you think ok, everyone thinks it's great, I'll reinstall it sure it's going to reveal it's delights THIS time.

But no. It's still pants. And you regret wasting the bandwidth on it, again.

Basically I'm saying it's NMS.

:sneaky:

NMS? You mean the game where a handful of developers have actually managed to completely overhaul the game through various consistent updates entirely for free and have successfully fleshed out a non pretentious and enjoyable game in the process?

If that's the Cobra MkIV then I'll take it.

I plan to run an in game business leaving Cobra IV's lying around with the keys in the ignition to flummox the exclusivity clause if we ever get ship piracy.

In my private group by pre-arrangement only. For either an eye watering quantity of void opals deliverable in advance, totally free or maybe not at all.

Depending on the cut of the customers jib.

Sigh. Exclusive content is exclusive. If FD renege on that, then where's the incentive to pre-order? Admittedly, it appears a bit daft to release a ship as exclusive content, especially since ED was not available to PS4 consoles but FD have set out their stall on the matter, so let ithis thread die. :)

As I was saying earlier, I’ve always admired you Stigbob.

I thought powerplay, multicrew, engineers, cqc, console ports were meant to be the final doom when they were all released?

Nah, you're forgetting all of the wheelie bins with the lids off that take it all, no matter what FDev introduce someone will welcome it, the Doom is just subjective, so relax, you don't need to panic and ridicule the doomsayers, an open works both ways, some out some in!

My normal response to these threads stills stands. I say give everyone who moans about the MkIV a free MkII, they deserve one.

A Cobra MkII would be cool, it could be worse than a Cobra MkIII in every way & have no issues over being ptw (the MkIV would be a handy ship if small pad only docks ever become a thing). It could be functionally identical to some existing (and non-exclusive) ship & just look different.

The lesson learned from the turbulence over the CIV does not have to be 'never try again'.
