Planet Zoo 2 or very long support for this beauty?

Now when game is almost one year available to us and with 3 adorable DLC packs I can say that this is my favorite from Frontier. The creativity which game offers is stunning and the management is just on spot to be fun but not too demanding to take focus from delightful animals which are the rockstars of the game.
This game is very good as it is, but it has a lot of potential to be better with more new updates and dlc's.

Regarding all of this I know it is way too early to mention Planet Zoo 2 but eventually it will come time for that also. So what you prefer after let's say three years in advance a new game or this Planet Zoo with a constant updates?

Personally I find this game really setted up for a long period if game is getting new updates and dlc's from time to time like now. I would like from Frontier to keep this game alive for really long time instead taking consideration for another zoo game. I mean first of all graphics is very good and I know it could probably be better in a, let's say, 3 years of time, but with such a good graphics like now I think the more important could be some new mechanics in present game (like flying birds e.g) then brand new graphics. The thing which kept interest into Zoo Tycoon 2 so long were modding scene with all the time bringing new stuff an even mechanics into the the game. Planet Zoo probably won't have such strong modding scene like ZT2 has for various reasons, but if Frontier decide to keep this game alive for longer period then it won't be necessary.

Same as new animals I believe the new mechanics could also be brought to the game such as diving (for semi aquatic creatures like sea lions or penguins) or flying (for aviaries and birds) and of course a good portion of new animals from deifferent dlc packs such as maybe Australia 2, South America 2, then Africa and Asia should have had even more animals due to really great and huge fauna from those regions, then Europe and North America, then we can have primates pack, smaller creatures pack like ratel, meerkats, mongoose, fenec foxes, praire dogs, racoons, patagonian mara or something like that.

So guys would you have mind to have this Planet Zoo with longer support over completely new game in a few years time or you think that new game could be more appropriate?

I want Planet Zoo supported over a long period of time.
They're rolling out animals sooooo slowly that it'll be a whole other year before a lot of us have our favorites. Of course, that's not their fault because I'm sure the pandemic and working from home slowed down production of the DLCs. It couldn't be helped.
I hope next year they can give us more content, though.

I'd like a sequel, hopefully on an engine better than Cobra which is where I think a lot of the issues come from. It's a recycled engine from Planet Coaster, so the engine itself is pretty old even if the game is not. Presumably a sequel would be on a newer engine.

That said I'm not clamouring for it. I'll enjoy Planet Zoo for as long as it's current, no doubt.

Yes I'm aware of engine but anyway still would like long support for this game. Really there are a lot of potential for this game. I won't say Planet Zoo is unfinished at release, game is pretty much complex, there are a lot of things which going on but again zoo park as it sounds are vast area and there are dozens of animals which we are deserving to have in zoo game.

There are still many things that can be added in the game. Apart from the animals we have, something like aquarium and birds habitats can also be added into the game. I think if they can keep on improving the game engine and the game performance, they don't need to start a new game and make everything all over again. We always support good things, not only for new things, isn't it?

Nobody has suggested they do a sequel right now. The OP is asking whether or not people would prefer the game continues getting support for, I don't know, another ten years, or whether we'd prefer a sequel after a few years of support. There's doubtless still a ton of great content to come for the game as it is, including birds (I have serious doubts about aquariums of the scale some people suggest, however). However, Planet Coaster is no longer receiving new content or updates as far as I know, and is busy being converted to a console version. I expect the same treatment for Planet Zoo - two or three more years of support and new content, and then a rerelease on console. If Coaster gets a sequel then we'll know for sure whether Zoo will get one, too.

Very long support is what I would like and expect.

Looking at Planet Coaster, 4 years long we got quarterly DLC's and updates, and now they are launching it on console, which should expand possibilities.
(although still no news of what happens next for the pc edition, when the console edition launches).

Things like different skin variants for the same specie is one very good update which will make more interesting the whole gaming experience. If they will keep up updating this game with such goodies and of course more new animals we don't need nor mods nor new game. Zoo Tycoon 2 could be example how a bit outdated game could last longer then expected if game is supported well.

I don't have problem with 5 animals per DLC pack at all if I would know there are planing a lot more DLC's. And I really hope that after very likely European and North American DLC pack we will get again Australian 2, South American 2 etc.

I want this supported for a long time. I"m sure they have a plan for content at least through 2021 (at three packs a year that would be 7 packs) but I would love it to be another 3-4 years after that.

I would expect it to go until 2022-2023 if it follows Coaster.

I don't know about sequels nowadays.
Think that a lot of companies have 3-5 years pause (at least) between sequels, if they decide to do one.

If the game basics are good - you can have a long support.
For example: DBZ xenoverse 2 just had an update with some new features. 4 years old game - most people considered the game done but were pleasantly surprised by an update with new features/items.
Games have more life span compared to games 20 years ago.

If they fix the FPS issue with a large zoo then "very long support for this beauty"

If they can't due to engine limitation etc then I am a bit split. I rather they built a good engine that could run large zoo without issues etc, but on the other hand the game has only been out for a year, seems a bit sad having to stop supporting it. but yeah.

Both. I’d definitely want a sequel eventually as it will probably be much improved. But for now long support. We really don’t know the limitations of this current installment so that’s why I said much improved. But I’m having a blast playing and enjoying the current game and 4 yrs support would be welcome. I actually dread the day support for this game will be done as I’ve seen Planco and JWE end more then likely.

Hopefully we get a sequel. This game has been out for a year and still has so many problems. I appreciate how involved frontier is in fixing bugs and adding stuff to the game but I think there’s too much too fix.

Thats far the biggest issue in this game.

Im building a zoo with 8 species at the moment. Around 60 animals, 2000k visitors. Not that much, but i like building and going into details. My specs arent bad (r7 2700x, rtx2080, 16gb ram), but im back at 20 fps again. Havent used more than 10% of the whole map yet.

Well better PC spec can buy you time, but eventually you will lag. I got a beast of a PC and I got about 200 animals and 3000+ guests, managed to fill almost half of the map before hitting 20 FPS. Tho to be fair, I might have hit it earlier without noticing as I was mostly in pause mode busy building.

But so far I am aware its their engine and not us, which limits in what they can do to fix it. Guess we will see tho.

I have no high hopes, unfortunately. PZ was quite a quick port from PlanetCoaster, where the engine already had the same limitations. And that game came out four years ago.
True, but I have read people saying its better than PlanetCoaster, so who knows. I rather give them the benefit of doubt since they seem to be listening here. PlanetCoaster has a different management and development team so yeah.
