An appeal for peace in Colonia

Earlier this morning forces supporting The Nameless triumphed in hard fought battle to retain control of the system of Carcosa. This victory was achieved by a remarkable rallying of independent pilots from across the Colonia region to defend the freedom of Carcosa and keep the benefits that the rule of the Nameless bring to the whole area, this victory was not and could not have been achieved by Nameless forces and their supporters from Loren's Reapers alone. In view of the level of support for The Nameless from the community surely our enemies from SEPP/Explorers Nation, Civitas Dei, SPEAR and the Colonia Legionaires must now see that The Nameless and The Reapers are not an unwanted blight on Colonia but are a welcomed, valued and useful part of it, thus I appeal to their leaders and pilots to accept this and come to an arrangement to restore peace and prosperity to the region and work towards mutual cooperation to all who call the nebula home.

I personally want to thank all the Commanders who came to Carcosa's aid in her darkest hour. This is not a victory for the Reapers, but for all of Colonia and her citizens. You, the "nameless" ranks and legions who fought to protect the system, are the victors in this battle.

Loren's Reapers will be issuing a formal call for the cessation of hostilities later today.

Thank you.

And this!

Very proud of everyone out here coming to our help.
We thought we would face an overwhelming force of opponenents, only to be surprised - humbled - by the number of independents coming to
the help of Colonia. Because it is a victory for free Colonia, and not a victory of Loren's Reapers. It's your victory.
Thank you very much!

To each and every single commander who fought with us, his buddies or on his own for the Nebula, thank you!
You really made a difference ❤

As part of the negotiations with EN I would be demanding their retreat from Carcosa. Whilst they remain they will always be a threat and whilst they still have their goon squad from the bubble that threat will be ever present.

It's not good for business.

But that's just me and I have no dog in that particular race. I'm sure the Reapers will do what is best for the system, as far as they can.

I wonder what Eleu is like in the winter time?

Theres 2 sides in a negotiation and this is in no way a defeat or setback they have to accept or accept as anything other than 1 week in a much larger war. People demanding in negotiations are often not good negotiators, they just waste time and often have far less power than they think to make any sort of demands anyway.

Im eagerly awaiting news as you are, but so far they have not said it was a 1 week or short affair, they may renegotiate, they may not. Just dont expect too much maybe.

There is much to consider in the politics of negotiation, demands borne of vengeful emotions or righteous indignation are far less likely to be given, or upheld in the future. Taking the high ground and being the bigger victor will win the hearts and minds of the region and if conducted correctly can provide a much stronger base for the nameless going forward despite hard losses in recent weeks. There is much opportunity here, but the alternative, more war, well I can live with that too.

What Vetinari said. Seems unlikely to be over any time soon. There's a difference between the system state War/Civil War and a full blown conflict like this. The BGS is long-term, not a week.

First and foremost a big thank you to all who came to our aid. It not only showed that The Reapers are liked and a part of the Colonia family, but that we all will stand up and fight for what we all believe Colonia should be. A nation free of the bubble powers.

It is not in our hands what the other side plans to do now. We can't do more than extend the olive branch.

But if the last 5 days are anything to go by, the premise and conceptions under which the extra bubble forces were brought to Colonia don't hold true. Neutrals will not stay neutral, The Nameless have strong support from the community, and most important a strong support from the locals in Colonia. It doesn't matter what happens in the future, the decisiveness with which this war was won showed that the majority of Colonians does not want to be living in a bubble 2.0. We will help each other no matter the cost to keep the bubble powers honest, just like we always did.

Speaking as someone who dealt with 'negotiations' with BGS groups I say strength, guile and giant brass balls are your diplomatic tools. There can be no real peace- stability in ED comes from fear and the knowledge that you have the ability to fight back, since invariably someone always tries it on.
My default negotiating position is pretty much "I'll leave you alone if you leave me alone. You probably want me to leave you alone."

Right on. Mutual destruction is a good default, as well as being sadistic and brutal also helps negotiations.
Sound advice, unfortunately it looks like this is how our opposition wish us to go. It's a shame as there's still work that can be done to improve the area, but looks like they've just come up from the bubble to create a BGS quagmire for the next couple of years. No skin off my nose, but hopefully they'll see there's more constructive things to do in the neighborhood.

Fair enough, I don't play the game that way. I have always worked on the principle that, 'you leave me alone and I'll leave you alone', otherwise expect hell for breakfast.

I'm not party to the Reapers thoughts on the situation or their intentions or the long term goals of the EN. I can hope that the situation is resolved in an 'amicable' fashion but I suspect that this war is just a minor setback in their (EN) plans. Quite why a group fixated on exploration feels the need to trigger a violent conflict in a system they have no business being in is beyond me. Although I suspect the bubble goon squadron had a lot to do with it.

Like I say, I'm not a part of the process that will ensure a peaceful solution, that is up to the leadership of the Reapers and the EN. I will say, however, that trusting the EN is not something I would do. They have already shown what they think of the Nameless being in control of Carcosa by the instigation of this war.

I'm pretty sure they (EN) would be mighty bitter if their systems were taken from them. Treat others as you expect to be treated.
