Newcomer / Intro Signatures

Heya Commanders,
I don't know if any of you can help us inexperienced people with links or site that give instructions on how to make and place a signature, kinda spice up the forum post so it's not so...umm. blaaaaaaaaoring...:) Not very much information like pix size, where to up load, and you know, the tech side aspect of it?

Thanks for any information on how or where to learn more...o7 Commanders

Click on your name in the upper right corner and then on "Signature". (or go to your account page and choose "signature" in the list on the left)
There you can either write something, or post an image the same way you would in a normal forum post (click on the "insert image" button in the top band and paste an URL from the hosting site (I use imgur)
I don't know the exact max dimensions of the picture (it will tell you when you try to upload something too big, though) or the size, but if I can I'd like to ask you not to put anything too long in there.
I generally try to keep my signatures below 300px of picture height or text no longer than 5 rows. If you put something bigger there, it makes the forum threads look messy and personally I don't like when the signature takes up more space than the post itsef.

Thank you Chris for the information, it seems quite fun to be able to play around with Sigs, and tips with advice on sizes and organized.
People like you are what make the forums so helpful, just cant thank you enough...o7

If you check the small print atthe bottom of this (any) forum page, you'll find a link to "Forum Rules". There you'll find the rules for pictures and other signature elements. It's a bit complicated if you want to combine text and picture(s), so just follow that link and scroll down a bit.

As I read through this it is a little complex due to it does not say the size of Signatures but only an avatar 400x400 px 1mg max, obviously witch mine is so old I can't remember how I got it there...LoL. I do not have a sig that violates and rules with the exception of rule 3 as the use of a 3rd party web sites, I think. So can you explain how can I get a signature via from my machine or are there sites that Frontier will allow as Chris has given one for me and explained what sites I can use?
And PLEASE is there a recommended pix size commonly used?

Thanks for showing me the link below, /facepalm, I would have never noticed that, and respect seems to be quite common on FD's forums, or I would think it was..:)

Join up with inara and you get a sig too. Useful site for finding engineering mats and commodities, graphing your progress, etc.

(no affiliation - just a satisfied user- thanks to Artie for all his hard work!)

Yes, I am linked with INARA, love that site and a high salute to the webmaster that runs it. I use the Frontier link to keep my INARA information current, very good site but I didn't know about sigs from there....?

Did you scroll downfar enough to this post: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/forum-rules-and-guidelines-23-may-2016.251032/post-7720138 ?
Sig size is there - but you'll have to upload the image to the forum server, no dynamic html allowed.

If you want Inara signature, log into inara, go into your account there, click on your name in the top right corner.
Then click the "Misc and signature".
Click "enable signature" (if you don't have it active already)
Copy the "signature image URL" (the middle one) and insert it here (the way I described above). That should be all.

Ok, just ignore it then - if all you want is an image, no text, thenyou can go up to 200 pixels high and 650 pixels wide, less than 250 kB in size.

The rest is if you want some additional text or other stuff.

I just checked and it seems that you cannot actually upload a sig image onto this board any more - I had to post on imgur and use the forum share link from there to get my sig back on.

That is boring.

Good day
what kind of Switch do you refer to?

I'm new here and just trying to understand how things are working around here

The fora were moved onto the current platform some time ago. The switch to this BB system resulted in lots of things being deleted / archived and many features being changed. The ability to upload a signature image is one of the features lost in "The Switch".

The inara ones are pretty cool, or you can make you own(size is limited).
Have fun and welcome to the mad house
