Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Granted, SC looks pretty when standing still - see any thread on SC reddit - and you'd expect the very well worn path of 'get up from bunk, go to terminal, get ship, enter ship' that we've all seen a thousand times since 2.0 or when ever to be by far the most tested path in the entire game.

It is literally a requirement for everyone playing the game. Putting why you need to spend 5min traversing a space station, interacting with a terminal's embedded UI just to get into a ship you already own aside, the fact there are any bugs at all along this path should be a red flag.

Another red flag is the performance regression, according to CIG's own tool, in almost every patch, both in FPS and in loading times. As it seems, ways to improve said performance are to take things out - NPCs no longer move, fewer NPCs, etc.

NPCs. Affecting FPS. In an MMO. That can handle less than 50 real players at a time.

Are these promising signs for the future progression of the game?

Roberts' insistence on fidelity obviously causes headaches for the devs. Maybe that is why he is nowhere to be seen and has been told to stop meddling.

See, it's not stone casting it's stone skipping. And this throw is perfect. Why refrain from throwing when CIG keep providing us so many polished flat stones?

tl;dr:"We are dishonest because of our hate boner."
Ah, I forgot. It is the 'cultists' who are dishonest, you are only 'biased'. My bad.

There is a difference between dishonesty and bias. Usually one has a legal ramification in certain circumstances, eg Obtaining money under false pretences, selling a product as finished when its just a video, Tax evasion. There is no equivalent for being 'biased'.

Its understandable that people who have invested something will feel let down and may turn biased towards that something and look for things that confirm their bias. Some of them can remain neutral and say it how it is..

Its a bit harder to understand that people who have invested something will turn that anger or bias outwards towards other successful products instead of their own product. Why turn the anger outwards rather than aiming at the problem? Released games are not the problem. It is dishonest to pretend that they are. Why all the hatred for ED, NMS even CyberPunk now? What does that achieve exactly? Does it get your product released quicker? That's dishonest and deflecting from the real problem. .

There is nothing wrong with stone throwing. Olympic games even feature javelin throwing. That is far more dangerous.

Vague memories of some ancient Greek throwing a Discus and hitting his father, The King, in the crowd killing him instantly...thereby fulfilling the prophecy that the sone would kill the father.

At my school sports day, many moons ago, one lad running around the track got hit in the shoulder by a javelin but it fell out. This was before the invention of health and safety. So they carted him off to hospital and the rest of us just carried on. Ahhhh! Happy days.

At our school the Javelins were so blunt you were lucky if they stuck in the ground in summer. Five minutes of watching my classmates with them and I could see why. Its is amazing when you think about it how many so near-death experiences were 'accidents' back at school hey. I almost killed a guy with a hockey ball to the forehead once.

Longtime SC streamers flow around the bugs because they are used to them. They avoid the problem areas. They avoid gameplay that would be rendered pointless by a 30K. They don't try to talk to the bartender. They don't see the NPCs creepily silently standing on chairs, or morphed into each other. They switch to other servers when it stops responding or assets don't load. They don't put their water bottles on the ground because they know it might disappear. They don't open some ship doors when in quantum because they know the ship might disappear. They check the inside elevator panels before the door closes so they don't get locked in. Etc. Etc. Then they claim there are few issues.

The hilarity starts when a brand new player tries the game.

It's mythical Perseus himself. Also it's not his father, but grandfather, Acrisius - the prophecy is such that "the son of your daughter will kill you". Acrisius puts his daughter into a chamber so she can't get a son, but Zeus impregnates her anyway (related:

). So Acrisius puts them in a wooden box and drops them to sea. But they get saved (because Zeus asks Poseidon) and years later, hero Perseus comes back and fulfills the prophecy unknowingly.

Greeks, man.

Yea, but the video still doesn't show Greece - that is Japan and Korea highlighted.

Didnt that involve a Golden Shower of some description? I mean, what were they smoking these story tellers?

In that case it fits perfectly with the theme of the thread, things not actually being as they are portrayed to be :)

Played a bit this afternoon. I wanted to try the mining again and had a few good runs with it. Saved up to buy the impact1 mining head at 50k and went out there again. Computer crashed hard in that session while mining on yela, don’t know what the problem is but anyway, I thought, ok, there goes the money. Had to do some stuff and just came back to it. To my surprise, when I logged in, I was in the prospector landed on yela with my landing gear up. Still had the new mining head and the loot I mined. It even asked in the social panel in mobyglass if I wanted to reconnect to my previous session that I played a few hours ago. Not bad at all.

Well, despite the bugs, at least some improvements there with persistence and not losing all your progress after a crash.

Good stability in your sessions, eh? Only 2 30Ks in the last coupla weeks, eh? Did you feel it coming now, too?
