ALERT: Fires in Imperial space!

So what ship do I bring to help out? I have an Asp X, but could go buy a Python.
And how should it be equipped?
Whatever you've got unless you want to forgo immersion and buy a ship just for this.

Just load it up with as many passenger cabins as you can fit; the rescue ship next to the station has outfitting facilities, including cabins and heatsinks, so you can just land there, reconfigure your ship and then do the short hop to the station.

It's not particularly challenging, you just need to get in and out without delay, pop a heatsink or two off as you are landing and one when you take off. You take a tiny amount of heat damage (< 200 cr) as you are going through the launch animation before you leave the pad and can pop a heatsink but can repair that at the rescue ship. I just stripped out my Krait (including the shield after the first run) and could cram in 110 economy class passengers each run.

Wait. What? Thargoids are now mercenaries working for NMLA? ...for humans!?

Seriously I had to do a double-take quintuple-take at the articles when I logged on this morning. My brain kept thinking: there simply must be some mix-up with old news getting pushed to the top of the now-all-too-familiar ones we've seen for months. I studied the dates with my eyes but my brain wouldn't believe it and kept making me think I wasn't reading them right. Two items in two days!
Even yesterday when I noted a couple mentions of Cemiess and thought to myself: what's going in Cemiess? I'll have to take a look some time.
Sign of the times: it didn't even occur to me to look at Galnet. :( It felt weird realizing the reaction I just had.

This is wonderful! :)

Story aside, this creates activity, interest, atmosphere, and yes, even excitement for some. It's clear that this isn't for everyone (nothing can achieve that); be happy for those who it excites (there are many).

Let's play! Supplies, repairs, passenger-hauling - oh my!

...and more later?

This will be fun - never done a burning station...! I better not up doing the Guardian FSD blueprint thingy again, or the fire might be out by the time I get there...
Would it be overkill to take a Cutter on a rescue mission? 🤔

Not at all - the whole point is to rescue as many as we can, right?

I just wish there were some kind of "Search and Rescue" rank we could work for, like we do for Combat/Trade/Exploration. There should be some kind of recognition for CMDRs who risk life and limb (and a hefty rebuy) helping others, especially given how ungrateful they can be ;)

I've always used First Class cabins and charge them for it, too.

What? :sneaky: They can afford it.
Charge luxury/first class for the economy class accommodation after all the selfish whatsits are trying to bribe you to leave with almost all cabins empty within seconds of getting aboard, if they don't like it there are probably some escape pods left to launch into the burning bay.

So... Either Thargoids are working with terrorists... Or terrorists can fake the Thargoid burn marks.

Imperial Security has now confirmed to Galnet that Thargoid technology was used in the attack.
Hmmmm.....

I may be paranoid, but I never liked them since we found what pretty much looked like massive self destruct charges on their installations. So, could this imply connections between these "terrorists" and AEGIS?
Which in turn might mean that The Club is ready to turn against itself?

A question: when reaching allied reputation, is it still a good idea to take the reputation reward over anything else?
Will it speed up the imperial rank grind?

Always check for new GalNet articles after the daily tick. The Frontier website is just following it in a few hours.

Ah yes, of course. Didn't think of that.

Trying to find the Galnet news on this but nada. Link ? Lots of people are wondering about the nature of the weapon used.
Terror Attacks Used Thargoid-Derived Explosives
12 SEP 3306
The Imperial Internal Security Service has transmitted another urgent bulletin regarding terrorist attacks on starports in the Empire.

“There have been indications that the four starports came under attack by Thargoids. We can confirm that this is not the case, and there is no evidence of Thargoid vessels in the vicinity.”

“Observers reported that some of the damage inflicted on the stations’ infrastructure closely resembled the effect of Thargoid weaponry. This was registered by internal sensor systems, resulting in automatic emergency broadcasts designed to summon aid during a Thargoid incursion.”

“Preliminary investigations suggest the use of customised explosive devices that incorporated elements of Thargoid technology. This suggests that the perpetrators have access to unusually sophisticated resources as well as xenological materials.”

“As yet there is no reason to doubt that the Neo-Marlinist Liberation Army (NMLA) is responsible for these attacks. We have received reports of jubilant scenes from some Imperial fringe systems, in territories where Marlinism remains popular.”

Help with rescue operations is still being requested from the four Imperial starports: Mackenzie Relay in the Cemiess system, Tsiolkovsky Terminal in the Gabjaujis system, Garrido Market in the LHS 4031 system, and Muller Terminal in the Rabh system.
