Well fact is they aren't shoddy, they are the best that can be done given the tools available, unless you are going to force everybody in the game to install software on thier computer to report data, and even then how are you going to do that for consoles?

Or you could just use info in game?
I actually take a hybrid approach... but in game is always my source of truth.
Inara/eddb to cast a broad net of likely candidates, in game to verify. More often than not, even before all these changes, inara and eddb are wrong.
you really just have to pay attention to when the last update was to what you're looking at to get an idea how likely it is it might still be there. Tritium for 4k is obviously gone in a flash.
