I agree. Perhaps they need to be more honest. After all, surely the developers and paying testers are aware of this.Yes it's only recommended in the FAQ. But in reality, it's unplayable without SSD.

How can they be more honest? It's the most open development process ever. Everything is completely transparent.....I agree. Perhaps they need to be more honest. After all, surely the developers and paying testers are aware of this.
It was good to give a bit more context to what you stated earlier. If missions are tied to dynamic world states the missions themselves might not change.I don't want to troll, I'm serious. The quantum system will not change the direct gameplay but the indirect one.
The actual escort missions / investigation missions / dogfight missions / etc will intrinsically not change when quantum might be connected. How, when and where they spawn will change but not the missions themselve.
The actual trading might not change fundamentally too. Quantum might manage prices and shortages and spawn other missions on your path but the way you buy, travel and sell goods will be the same before and after quantum.
Yes it's the same system as Elite dangerous or Eve Online. Certainly with less trade data and perhaps more PNJ data to manage (if CIG get the MMO part working).I can tell you from experience that Star Citizen folks don't want to hear that... ... then I realised after I'd watched it once or twice more, it was just recreating the function of the BGS from Elite but shown in graphical format
It might run without a SSD... when you have 64 Gb of memory and a killer CPU.I agree. Perhaps they need to be more honest. After all, surely the developers and paying testers are aware of this.
Gamepass ultimate just suddenly got betterMicrosoft buys Bethesda. Any bets on Starfield being released before SC?

Those are two very different questions. One is worthless to ask, the other is not.Bad does not equal not fun.
Good does not equal fun.
It is all subjective.
That doesnt make it worthless to ask someone, is it fun? Or whats fun about it?
A bit over $1.5bn according to Chris' way of counting…$330m starts getting peoples attention, what is it now? $400m?
That's the funny thing. There was so much ooh:ing and aah:ing from that demo that people tended to miss that what he showed off was the most stupidly and uselessly overproduced dev tool ever. It was a parameter previewer that, rather than give data that could be processed in any kind of useful way for balance tweaking, made dots move around that the developer could try to tweak into an apparent pleasing shape. When I first saw Tony Zurovec's demo from the last citizencon I was immediately impressed (it was a cool demo)...then I realised after I'd watched it once or twice more, it was just recreating the function of the BGS from Elite but shown in graphical format.
I think he's referring to how some people will only report on the good or the bad, depending on their liking for the game.
I do want to like this game.
I probably just don't understand but it sounds like they have a lot of work to do (next couple quarters) on stuff people won't see ingame (background stuff) maybe it gives some performance increase?
The one main problem I see from that canned response is CR's arrogant assumption that by the 'back end of next year' when this dynamic economy will merely be ready for the testing environment and not implemented as a working game function, Star Citizen will still be at all relevant.
Yeah but for the vast majority, it's just reading titles on a gaming sites. Most gamers don't buy/test alpha.
Because CIG can buy ad on TV, theater, etc for SQ42. And they have a lot of well know star they can show in trailers to get some hype.
Not only that but he states just “elements” of it... and that expected towards end of 2021... which in terms of CR and SC speech means you need to add some generous contingency to that... plus the additional time CIG will require to complete the rest of the “elements” of the full system... 2023+ or so then? And that is just the Quantum economy system. Never mind the rest of the game.
But hey, no worries, it has been a long while since this project reached a point where incompetence, multi year delays and non delivery of paid for products is fully normalized.
That doesnt make it worthless to ask someone, is it fun? Or whats fun about it?

"it's not going to take 10 to 20 years" ... chris robert is right and isn't lying cuz it's going to take 30 years, so don't say chris roberts didn't warned you all.
I wasn't really triggered...just trying to appear a smartarse is allthat or outline the good times while they gloss over the bad experiences due to alpha etc as if we or the game need protection. I basically wanted to say "give us all you got...not just the nice bits". I didnt intend to offend anybody by my choice of words. For future reference maybe I should stop posting when I got more then 2 beers in? Looks like I up my "foot in mouth" ratio if I dont....
I know that feeling from other games. There is one in particular that I picked up due to flashy graphics and overall sci-fi setting so I really wanted to like it but boy oh boy was it a tough relationship. I plain and simple sucked at the game. Got crushed even on easy settings, not a single victory and playing was so frustrating that I usually ended the evening fuming rather then relaxed. I gave up on it multiple times but you know.....I paid for it and it was sitting there teasing me so time and time again I gave it another shot until finally I started to make progress and once I did more and more of the game became clearer and understandable...accessible. Today...years later its still my go-to game when I have an hour or 2 to fill so yeah....sometimes we need to "work" on the games we like the most. Or better....sometimes the pearls are covered by a lot of mud so it takes effort to make it shine.
If SC is a pearl or just a piece of dirt is the topic of this ongoing thread and we wondered about that question for years. Today we do have answers for most mysteries. For example I know that user effort is not important in all this. Your machine doesnt matter, your settings dont matter, your skill doesnt matter. As in...regardless how good you are at PvP or mining or whatever...the game doesnt suddenly jump forward and becomes better. Star Citizen starts out with the best it has to offer, it doesnt hold back anything. Or maybe it does but its usually behind a paywall in case flying a Carrack is such a majestic experience...I dont know.
Playing enjoyment is directly tied to performance or so it seems and Star Citizen has massive problems in that regard as it offers reliable FPS to some and horrible FPS to others, who gets which end of the stick seems to be random or tied to the CIG-end of the whole thing but with the lack of a tutorial and a massive amou nt of game breaking bugs and glitches, some of which are avoidable while others strike at any given moment without a chance for the player to avoid them makes liking the game really really had.
Introduce the "its alpha" excuses and yes...that is a valid reason as valid as the criticism CIG gets for taking their sweet time on other peoples dime. What brings most haters to the front is the fact that CIG routinely drops or alters promises they cashed out on previously which makes them appear like greedy lil scammers so its hard to see the "shine of glory" through the fog of P2W, micro-transactions and bugs that the alpha is filled with.
That all being said I enjoy the reports from people who have fun with the game but I like them to be honest in what they write. Some posts of "playing experience" simply reek of propaganda and a desperate need to make the alpha appear more shiny then it actually is. I call them dishonest not as if they are lying but because they try to change the readers perspective of SC...a manipulative report designed to score points.
We bash CIG a lot but all of it is born out of valid concern or patient observing over years. CIG deserves the criticism but regardless all of that criticism doesnt deny people having fun with what they offer. Sadly...recently the source of playing reviews in this thread has dried up tho....talking about the few people I consider reliable sources anyway. They seem to become more and more frustrated with waiting and with the deterioration of performance and promises to a degree that it affects their ingame enjoyment. So....looking for new sources to fill that void. Thats what I meant by "honest".
Dont worry you are not supposed to understand. In fact the answers and information coming out of CIG are given in such a contradictive vague or obfuscating way that it sometimes seems that even the devs dont understand what they are supposed to do. But here its given in such a state to unknowing and inexperienced people who cant possible know what all the stuff means which makes you wonder if the ensuing confusion and back and forth arguing over stuff like "release" is not intended in the first place?
I dont see that changing tho. The people who cling to it today will continue to cling to it...mabe more aware, maybe more cynical but look at yourself and how you stick to it for how many years now? If theres a dry spell you simoply wait it out and wait for better times. And you are not really one of the "faithful" in all this. Those will stick around and keep paying and praising the BDSSE even 5 years from now. All CIG is having to do is to up the ante, keep promising and showing face occasionally. Seems to work like a charm.
So the statements of SC selling millions of copies is based on the assumption that SC will release and actually be a top scored game?
...fat chance
Advertisement isnt cheap tho and that would mean CIG would break yet another promise (to not spend any funding on marketing) but I guess what is another broken promise at this point yes?

With that type of information coming to light I m sure the regular "SC is going to need 5 more years to be released" is being changed to a different number quickly ^^ Because the way this sounds it looks more like 20 more years but I m sure the pipelines will all kick in at some point?
Of course not. The issue here is that the answer (SC is fun to me) is heralded like a banner to promote the games qualities when the statement holds next to zero value in determining said qualities and for the most part is the go-to retreat point that cannot be attacked, cannot be assaulted and is treated like a victory.
"I m having fun, check mate haters"
My lil tirade was born out of Moles triggered post which in turn triggered me but I was drunk so maybe that absolves me? ^^
Again that word.... ^^

That's a pity. I doubt if I'll get my new graphics card installed in timeFYI, the free fly ends 23:59 UTC on September 23rd
It's also got dearer - £7.99.Gamepass ultimate just suddenly got better![]()
I'm paying £10.99 for mine already...but it covers Xbox live subs as well as gamepass ultimate for both Xbox and PC. I gameshare over Xbox with my son so he gets everything I have for free... gamepass ultimate is way cheaper than 2 separate Xbox live subs then adding game costs onto it.It's also got dearer - £7.99.
thats so funny now that I think about it I'm not sure I heard him say it was gonna take less than 10-20 years just that it wouldnt take 10-20 yearsmining comment sections on YT![]()
