Extract from the email I got this afternoon...

"REAL VIRTUAL PILOTS FLY COMBAT

Attention Pilots!
We are aware that many of you are sight-seeing in your Cessna or flying an Airbus today. We consider this activity a little perverse of course. Not that there’s nothing wrong with that, it’s just not our thing! However, with everyone being in a flying mood today, we have launched our REAL VIRTUAL PILOTS FLY COMBAT Sale with some mind-blowing savings on several Great Battles products.
If you’ve wish-listed any of our products on Steam or been thinking about grabbing one of these from our website now is the time to make your move! We’re almost giving them away. Get in the cockpit today and BECOME A WARRIOR NOT A TOURIST! Tell your General Aviation friends this hobby is much more than driving a bus with wings."

Class :D

I'm still faffing about (in between bouts of MSFS 2020) with Desert Wings...the Ai is absolutely brutal in it. It also adds a couple of missions etc for the base Cliffs of Dover...which I hadn't noticed until I looked. Still loving the Hurricane variants as well as the Beaufighter and Wellington. Wish I could get the turrets working...they suffer overall from Cliffs of Dover control miasma syndrome. I'd really love to be able to just jump into a Wellington turret and have it simply 'work' with the available and standard control inputs same as it does in IL2...sadly, that's not the case.

Flying...the flight model is twitchy compared to IL2...same as Cliffs of Dover I guess since it's the same game...still hate trying to setup bindings as they haven't redone the controls menu, something it badly needs.

I just noticed that my member profile on the IL2 forum doesn't include the BoS and BoM badges...might be because I bought them on Steam long before I discovered the IL2 forums... Still annoys me that they aren't showed since I have the full house of IL2 products...petty I know...but still :D

Huge discount campaign running now for DLC aircraft, from 66% to 85% per airplane, so if anyone was waiting for a sale to add some new plane to their collection, now is the time :)

Yup, that's me getting my hands on the Ju 52. I always had a thing for troop transport vehicles, be they wheeled, tracked, rotary or fixed wing. Wish there was a soviet equivalent.

One of my personal favorites, who knew resupplying the frontline airfields with cargo or dropping paratroopers would be such fun. :)

I'm very looking forward to the incoming C-47 to finally have an alternative to the Ju-52 for when flying for the allies.

Great news, the Hurricane is a classic, looking forward to hop into it's cockpit. (y)

I've got to say, regarding flight sims, what a time to be alive :)

Yup...me too. I've spent my self imposed PC hardware/software budget for this quarter already so nowt till next year....besides that, I'd probably never use them, they'd be an add-on for the sake of having add-ons.

Indeed that's exactly what I think too. I think these would be a thing I would try out a couple times and then forget about them, while being 40$ lighter :D

I'll save the cash for future Battle of Normandy airplanes. I'm very looking forward to the C-47, at least (already preordered the Hurricane).

Dear Friends,

Today's Dev Blog is one where visuals are more important than words. The Hurricane Mk.II Collector Plane has shown good progress lately and its development has entered the final stage. The work of recreating this bird for our virtual world started a year ago, it hasn't been easy because of the many modifications you'll get with it . Essentially, it's not one aircraft, but several - you can choose the modification you want before a mission. We're sure you'll enjoy the final product. It's creation is an interesting milestone for us. At the moment, the cockpit is being textured and its FM is being finished. You can see the Hurricane in the game engine on the following shots:

Can't wait...it's still my favourite aircraft. The workhorse of the RAF. I play the Hurricane campaign missions more than anything else in Desert Wings and Cliffs of Dover.

Can't wait for the release of the Hurricane, the C-47 and all of Battle of Normandy in general.

Doesn anyone know when (even if just roughly) is the release planned? Is it a matter of months, or years?

Same, even though the Spitfire has always been the supposedly superior machine, I've always been more partial for the Hurricane, almost a shame that CoD original campaign put me in a Spitfire after just a few sorties...there's something about "slightly inferior things" that always drives me to prefer them to "the supposed best"...that must also be why I preferred the Fiat CR.42/G.50 to the far superior G.55 in 1946, and also why I fly a Keelback and an Asp Scout in the game of our kind hosts.

(By the way, I've been sidetracked by lot of stuff these last months between real life woes and virtual life "civilian simulators", should be about time I keep on with that British campaign..)

Sorry to hear thaat, I hope things improve soon. Dont forget to look after yourself!

Yes, I hope things will improve soon, but I'm confident they'll address most of Flight Simulator issues with the next pat-oh, you meant RL woes, right? Well no looks like they're not going to improve soon, the slightest 🙃, but hey life is what happens while you're busy making plans, as they say, innit? Keep calm and carry on. Just as in that British campaign...
