Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Some strange foreign cultures have gone as far as 'iced tea' and 'Sun brewed tea' which basically means leaving a cold stew of tea outside for the sun to heat up and 'brew' over several days. Its not quite as bad as the ancient practice of human sacrifice but its on the same page.
Quote of the week for me :D

Let me see...wearing a tea cosy on your head ...or rip a few stitches and pull on like underpants. Pants wins every time....as for drinking the tea, without the cosy the teapot would cool...nothing worse than cold tea ;)

In a real situation...given that a soldier was placed in a room with nothing apart from the teapot, cosy and a table...perhaps a chair, a soldier would act differently. Training would dictate drinking the tea. First rule of captivity, eat or drink anything available, it may be the last you get for some time...as for the rest...there's only guidelines and training. Adapt and survive, you're no use to anyone dead. Making the cosy into underpants..or body covering insulation is more important than making a hat. In an outdoor environment, your body loses a third of it's heat via the head...but in a confinement situation, you're more likely to require insulation from the ground...
And the pretending to fly on the table is the warning sign that they should let you go and grab someone else? 😛

that is his personal account and he is not speaking for CIG.

in addition, what he is saying is true.
If game is not MMO type there is one fly in ointment. Regardless of what drm scheme you use all of them eventually get cracked, and then your game competes against itself. One version costing zero for customer, one what ever price publisher can ask. Nowadays piracy problem in PC platform is somewhat containable, people are ready to pay for experience with minimal problems, as price is generally what people think as reasonable.

Oh dear, PC gaming cannot save Chris...

That's why CIG works on Vulkan and why they need it. ATM some graphical rendering is made by the CPU (because of the version of CE/LY they use). With Vulkan, they might be able to transfer a lot of those tasks to the GPU.

@LittleAnt where have you been? And what do you have to say on the great Tea debacle? Should it be served hot, right now, and then milk & sugar or lemon added to make it better for the drinker or should we all have to wait to see if the sun comes up before we know what the brew even looks like and its gonna be a long while before we get to taste it? We even have someone here who may not actually like Tea at all! Shall they be cast out? What if they ordered hot tea and 3 hrs later they got told the teabag was just being put into the Jar, in the meantime would they like their photo taken at the table for only a little bit more money?

A mere dash of milk first, then add the tea, no sugar...usually Co-op 99 teabags since it approximates proper builders tea....always served in a bone china mug in our house, it makes a difference ;)

...and sometimes accompanied by a few of these Italian style pistachio vera biscotti that my wife takes the trouble to bake...

They are so pinning their hopes in Vulkan. You have to wonder if the company who made SC with DX and an unoptimized mess will do better with Vulkan. Its not like there is some sort of rule that Vulkan can't be made an unoptimized mess either. Maybe the code whisperer himself is working on it!

And you're saying its not possible with the newer versions of DX?

imma shill for this game Victory Road I think made by 1 person. pretty good game.

edit: Made by 2 people

Victory Road has gone through some rough patches during its development. Matt Gersak, the original programmer of Victory Road, was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor in January of 2019. During the course of his fight against the tumor, Matt occasionally asked Krukov when the game would be released. When Krukov asked him why, Matt said “Because if I die from the tumor before this game comes out, I’m pretty much the biggest loser on this planet.” Although Matt fought with courage until the end, after a long fight he passed away in December of 2019. “I thought about giving up on the project after his sudden death, but I needed to see this game through, not just for me, but as a tribute to Matt’s involvement in our gemdev journey. Matt was not a loser, he was the other 50% of Victory Road and he will be remembered by everyone who plays this game.” said General Krukov of Strange Journey. “Classic boxing characters like Rocky and Joe [from Tomorrow’s Joe] have this resolve and strength of character that lets them keep fighting no matter how painful it gets. And Matt, besides how terrible the odds were for him, decided to keep fighting. I think Victory Road is pretty similar in the sense that it’s a game of perseverance. In the hardest times in life, it’s a lot easier to muster up the courage to fight when you have people who support you, much like the coach in the game. In a way, I wanted to pay respects to those who were involved with this game, and I wish I was there for Matt in his time of need.”

Looking forward to checking this out. I played a ridiculous amount of Fight Night 4 and Champion on 360 and haven't had my boxing itch scratched since. Sounds great and the cancer aspect is a tragedy and very powerful Matts partner finished up using him as inspiration. Something that is easy to get behind.
