Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Mike had a very public meltdown stream as Twerk17...went off, calmed a bit and reappeared as the new, not so serious and slightly SaltEMike...Saurus did practically the same except he's now a genuine Star Citizen FUDster playing and streaming anything else but Star Citizen.

Star Citizen certainly seems to break it's more dedicated streamers, that's fer sure... :)

SaltEMike at least has another job, so all of his income isn't dependent on streaming.

Saurus on the other hand is 100% dependent on streaming for income. He has tried playing different games, but then his viewership and income drops off. That would be a rough spot to be in.

Indeed...glad it's not something I do except for the sheer fun of it. I'd hate to make talking about games an actual job :)

Besides...me...streaming? I'd need subtitles. 'Our Scottish representative said:'

The Yamiks has nothing on my accent :D

true, i remember when fdev first talked about fleet carriers in 2017, how they were going to be released in 3.3, and would finally give some end game content for large player groups. wondering if the 500 player group i was a part of would be able to support 2 fleet carriers with one squadron. Or if we would have to create a 2nd squadron.

oh, and the reworked ice planets. they were just months away as well!

Come on man, you know better than just cherry pick 2 very particular content exceptions that were offered for free to boot and werent required to fullfill an already more than fully payed order such as the whole SC and SQ42. But even including those couple of exceptions FDEV delivery record is probably top tier overall:

- Season 1 updates (1.0, 1.1 CG , 1.2 Wings, 1.3 PP, 1.4 CQC and 1.5 Ships) were all on target except the CQC update which had a month or so delay IIRC.

- 2.0 announced in August 2015 for December 2015, released on December 2015: On target

- 2.1 announced for Spring 2016, released on May 2016: On target

- 2.2 announced for Summer 2016 (ends 21 September), released on October 2016: 1 month gap (1.5 month as a compromise if you use methereological calendar)

- 2.3 announced for Fall 2016 (ends in 21st December), released April: 4 months gap (4.5 month as a compromise if you use methereological calendar)

- 2.4 no release date announced in original roadmap. Was actually announced on June 2017 for Q3 release that year: On target. Even if FDEV had announced in the original roadmap a 2.4 for "Winter", ending in March, which it had not, the gap would have been at most 6 months, or 6.5.

- Beyond was even more on the mark with all 4 episodes on target in 2018 as per their original roadmap (content exception carriers/ice surfaces and the originally penciled in paid content)

- And from the last patch sequence in 2019, promised in 3-4 month intervals, the first one in April was on target aswell, September 1 month late (when compared to 4 months per update), and the January one was on target.

He goes onto saying he does not have the energy to change to streaming other games, says that he is "too old". That is a bit odd, why not stream a bit of everything he may enjoy including perhaps ED? Highly doubt he will lose audience and he may actually gain some if he is seen actually enjoying some new games that work for a change.

When streamers who are known for streaming one game, they usually take a pretty big hit when switching games. This seems especially true for Star Citizen as the community can be irrationally loyal to SC.

Need to update your copy/paste. odyssey has already been delayed once.

and i 100% agree, CIG is in another universe when it comes to missing deadlines.

but you don't "know" that you are gonna have what FDev is showing in teaser videos in a couple months either.

EDIT:
and the fleet carrier thing is hardly cherry picked, at least in my case. that was the proverbial straw that broke the camels back for me. that ED wasn't going to be anything more than a single player game with some bolt on multi player mechanics. i blame fdev for all the money i've spent on SC! :ROFLMAO:

I'll be honest, all his screaming about "this is SC" and "plagiarizm!" sounded so empty and just a diversionary tactic.
He's waist deep in the SC tarpit and even if he wanted to change game he'd simply lose all his viewer base. What a ty position to be in.

Why can't these people be a bit more. Objective?

Odyssey´s cureent delay is hardly quantifiable compared to the multiannual delays we discuss in this thread, and would not change the record much, plus Odyssey has not been yet put to sale unlike SC (or unless you want to turn this into a LTP discussion).

Regarding content, any prospective buyers will not need to wait much, matter of a few months at most depending on pre-sales dates, to be able to have all kinds of actual game press reviews and videos of released game content before making a "what you see is what you get" decision to purchase, unlike the 9+ years and counting of faith put into SC.

Minecraft players have been waiting a while for the combat update. But FDev and Mojang have a good enough record to know we're basically going to get what they say (within the bounds of expected development issues).

at least we know it will be released in a few months, unlike SC.

i was responding to this comment.

are you saying you know, for sure, that you will be playing what is in the teaser video in a few months?

or i guess we are in a SC is bad, so everything else must be good discussion.

i was responding to this comment.

And I was responding to the 2 examples you showed that ignore the overall top tier record of delivery for ED, all updates accounted for. In that full, and not cherry picked, context the comment you responded to makes total sense.

are you saying you know, for sure, that you will be playing what is in the teaser video in a few months?

No, not at all. I am saying any prospective buyers will not need to wait much, matter of a few months at most depending on pre-sales dates, to be able to have all kinds of actual game press reviews and videos of released game content before making a "what you see is what you get" decision to purchase, unlike the 9+ years and counting of faith put into SC.

Nope, its seems it was you who brought the ED is bad therefore SC cant be that bad.

i have no idea what you are getting at. but thank you for defending elite dangerous' honor!

Montoya responds to the AJ video about SC to tell everyone what they should think AJ really meant.

He's also very optimistic, saying 5 years for everything to be in the game that was promised... guy is living in lala land.
I had to stop watching Montoya vids a fair time ago...kept fiddling about with the keys to my gun cabinet every time he opened his mouth to breathe.

🤷‍♂️ more like simply adding actual data to cherry picked examples really, sorry it does not suit you, but hey whatever rocks your ad hominem boat.

A hint here (though to be honest he can be found playing ECO lately)
"Let's be honest guy, the game feels pretty much... humm... dead [laughter]"
"It's actually kind of hurting my Star Citizen's Experience, is like playing games that are somewhat polished really makes Star Citizen look way worse than when you only play Star Citizen"

The only thing I see that can explain why any decent person keep streaming solely SC is that as there's big whales there can be overly generous subscribers throwing money at your content if you please them
