Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Bi-weaves work best with reinforced and fast charge engineering.
I use them on my Corvette for combat, can basically sit in a RES or CZ forever (because of the recharge speed).
As aRJay said, if I wasn't expecting multiple combat, I'd go with a reinforced standard shield or Prismatic.

I've been working on a new CMDR this week, my goal is to spend some time getting to know the Alliance ships better, I've only ever used the Chieftain.
Spent the last few days unlocking the important engineers and guardian tech, managed to finally get a G3-4 Chieftain put together by 4am this morning. Now I'm off to an anarchy system to kill some things and replenish my depleted materials. Hoping to move some modules over to a Crusader later today...(cracks knuckles)

Is this a bug? I've found a painite hotspot but the orange blob isn't showing. In fact, none of the hotspots in the rings on this planet show as orange blobs...

I've tried logging, mode switching and dropping from then re-entering SC. I've also exited then re-entered the system.

Tried a full quit to desktop?

Hmm. No, I'll give it a whirl shortly.

Edit

Life just got in the way. I'll look mañana. Only 102 painite so far as well :( Actually, thinking about it, I might hoik the T9 off the carrier - it has a lot more room for cargo even if it does move like a geriatric snail. Still, no pirates to dodge out here but mining is really slowing my journey.

But credits are steady from exploration: even found two virgin ELWs. Which was nice.

~8,500 lys to go to Colonia!

It was a fun night. Must have been, because we woke up back in Grim Pioneer, unable to remember exactly how. Only 50 creds reckless fine this time, maybe because we were clear of the toastrack when the infraction occurred. I generally re=enter the station immediately to pay off fines, it saves a lot of hassle later on, but i figure it's a reputation that fits my playstyle, and a cheap room for the night.:)
Guess i'll know what to expect next time she slips on that Brazen Huzzy number.
There are so many multiple things wrong with this post.

Yeah. I use the Prismatics for 2 things.

1) My big ships that I want to shield tank with (Corvette in particular), and
2) to enable me to fit a smaller shield and still have good protection on my cargo runners and explorers. I can fit a 1 or 2 size smaller prismatic and still get good results.

They also suit my personality, or rather my gameplay preferences. I don't like to engage in hours of combat. I like one-offs, like assassination missions, and if I go to a HAZRES I only stay for maybe an hour at the most.

So it's not very important to me that my shields recharge quickly. I just want the max MJ I can get :)

I think bi-weaves make a lot of sense if you're engaging in constant combat though. You can boost away for a bit and recharge easily.
That was my thinking. I'm a total coward so I'm quite proficient in boosting away from a fight.

I hate the engineering system.

Better to acquire special modules from dealing with factions, I think.

Might be worth doing something else instead of waiting. Is there another engineer you can unlock?

If memory serves, there was a time - before mine - when engineers didn't exist
yea there's stuff I can do, increase my imperial rank for 1
was looking to follow Fox's Step-by-Step Guide

bit of a bummer I'm stuck only on the second engineer..

yea I remember the days of core elite d, came back for a bit on horizons, came back a few months back as odyssey caught my eye

well I'm currently stuck in Ngurii waiting on Soontill Relics for Elvira Martuuk
Cheranovsky City has nothing in its market

There is a player group that sells stuff - have a look at East India Company, they should have some Soontil Relics you can trade for:

Their trading page shows that they are available at 5tritium per tonne and 3 tonne minimum order:
