General / Off-Topic Its the end of the cineworld

Whole movie industry is kind of obsolete at this point, I'd say. Cinemas are just the most obvious symptom.
Cinematography doesn't have anything left to say and any new talent - just the aging ones. And therefore they have to reach for extremes to keep drawing attention. So they either get bogged down in everyday mediocrity to pander an average Joe, or increasing obscenity and fringe ideologies to appease the type of person who doesn't go to the cinema in the first place.

It's sad to watch.

The cinemas here are also taking a beating due to Covid-19 too. But honestly, besides an outing experience with friends, cinemas have been one of the worst ways to watch a movie for me. Not the cinema experience with the large screen and surround, that is timeless, rather the audience members that kick the chairs, talk during the movie, and those special snowflakes that like to announce everything that is happening in the movie 5 Seconds before it happens.

Despite that, I hope the cinema experience does not completely die out after Covid 19. It is still fun to watch with friends, and not everyone has the same movie-watching quality as the cinema experience at home. But it will be a very niche location post Covid-19 for sure.

Also given that movies are so often complete kack now and spending money to go watch a movie at the cinema is often a waste of it.
Double tap.

The movie business itself will survive as there is always an appetite for new blockbuster movies but it has to evolve with the times. It's like what the music business had to do with streaming audio now that people aren't bulk buying CDs any more. New movies have just been non-existent lately because no one can shoot them during the pandemic. That will change once this dreaded disease goes away.

Regal is closing down per the news release.

I cannot remember going to a cinema since purchasing Elite Dangerous.
Oh wait, I did see Serenity but that was long ago in 2005.

The latest Bond has finished filming but release has been delayed till next year again, Hence cinema closures. Some films are designed for the big screen,
