Like the choices but you don't see this one that often, so genuinely interested: Why this species ? (it's a out-of-the-box choice, when you look at your other choices) :D

I mean honestly because they are ridiculously adorable and are one of the most "expressive faced" cat species, basically, they are super fluffy "fat" grumpy cats. But on a more serious note, while not currently endangered worldwide they are suffering from habitat loss and considered endangered in many regions, extinct in others, and near-threatened most everywhere else. They are also very difficult to breed in captivity. Other than that there are no small cat species in the game yet so it also introduces a new element since imagining a small fat looking fluffy grumpy cat in game... is a very pleasant thought.

As we approach the first anniversary of the game there are varied opinions on what Frontier might or might not have planned to mark the occasion.

If you had an anniversary pack with twelve species, symbolising a year, what would you pick?

I would go with a geographic breakdown with two species from North America, South America, Africa, Europe, Asia and Australasia:

  • Moose
  • Puma
  • Capybara
  • Andean bear
  • White rhino
  • Meerkat
  • Wolverine
  • Alpine ibex
  • Red-crowned crane
  • Malayan tapir
  • Emu
  • Tasmanian devil

11 lions and a hyena.

  • Black Rhinoceros
  • Greater Kudu
  • Black Faced Impala
  • African Leopard
  • Malayan Tapir
  • Indian Gaur
  • Clouded Leopard
  • Dromedary Camel
  • Pere Davids Deer
  • Golden Snub Nosed Monkey
  • Black and White Colobus
  • Emu
I guess maybe I should do another 12 so I can include North and South American species, as well as European and other temperate climate species.

For me, I'll pick these.
  • African leopard
  • any African rhino, black or white
  • North American cougar
  • American alligator
  • dromedary camel
  • California sea lion (zoos had seals and sea lions)
  • any seal species
  • any penguin species
  • gibbon, like lar gibbon
  • king cobra (could use bigger space)
  • green anaconda (could use bigger space)
  • any deer species
Any questions?

If at some point it was decided to make a European DLC, I would like these endemic European animals.

  • Deer
  • Ibex
  • Fox
  • Lynx
  • Stork
  • Boar
  • Chamois
  • Fallow deer
  • Duck / Swan
  • Otter
  • Badger
  • Salamander

And of all of them the one that seems to me to be a must in Europe is the deer.

I was thinking of 12 animals to have in a more general animal pack to mark the anniversary but it would be amazing if every DLC had 12 animals. Maybe that should be another thread... By the way I would suggest including the wisent maybe instead of two deer species. Even with 12 animals it is hard to fit everything in...

I picked my 12 species based on currently available mechanisms in game, so no water diving or flying animals (even though I would love penguins or sea lions):

Spring:
  • Capybara
  • Gibbon
  • Malayan tapir
Summer:
  • Meerkat
  • Fennec fox
  • White rhino
Fall:
  • Tasmanian devil
  • Wolverine
  • Moose
Winter:
  • Arctic fox
  • Musk ox
  • Lynx

Amazing choices 🤩

I would only trade Tasmanian devil for puma or Manned Wolf.

My list would basically comprise i) animals that should have arguably been in the base game (something in line with NZFanatic's 'Zoo pack'), and ii) animals that would moreless complete current DLCs. I'm skipping animals that would need either diving or flying animations to be realistic. Here it goes:

1) Meerkat
2) Black/White rhino
3) American alligator
4) Muskox
5) Arctic fox
6) Capybara
7) Howler monkey (any, preferably a red howler species)
8) Squirrel monkey
9) Kinkajou
10) Tasmanian devil
11) Common wombat
12) Emu
