Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Pretty sure there is whole career path based around trolley pushing. Dream job, BDSSE, Never Been Done Before!
Ho, I'm sure you can find some use for this mechanism. Like moving a trolley to get a mobile covert during fight. Overwatch has a whole push map with this mechanism.

Some cool stuff they work on in the last newsletters :
Heard recent rumor on the Titan armor for the mystery armor of 3.12.

2 cool screenshots in game while body dragging

It looks dated. But i think most poeple like it because of the super neon knife and the metallic reflections But the rest... you see the dated CE.

"They also fixed a jitter offset computation error with unified raymarching so that it works in harmony with the guided filter denoiser, and added transmittance-weighted depth-computation, which controls the width of the denoise kernel tin guided filtering and raymarching up-sampling results."

I'll just past this here again, lest anyone forget.
"Oh when the rays, come marching in - oh when the rays come marching in - please denoise the kernel in the controls - when the rays come marching in."

Despite all the techie jargon - why does this strike me as trivial?

"Work on the automatic lighting rig is nearing completion; it's now active in game builds and almost in a release-ready state. " - Which means what now? So when is it ready? How far along is it? How much 'work' has been done on it all and this week specifically? What are you telling me here? People did some things on some tasks and its as incomplete or less incomplete than before?

Loved the bit about having to re-mocap due to scenic changes meaning:

We imagined how it would go, well CR did anyway and he was directing, so he just put people where he wanted them and we mocapped it. 8 years later, and youll laugh at this, 8 years later they actually got around to designing the rooms where this mocap action would take place, and this is the funny bit, the mocap animations didnt match with the furniture or the walls, so we gotta do it all again. We need Gillian Anderson to lean against a wall for a few days. Oh its a right laugh working here, buy an Idris.

Ho, I'm sure you can find some use for this mechanism. Like moving a trolley to get a mobile covert during fight. Overwatch has a whole push map with this mechanism.

Is it really the focus of their attention right now? If you were the boss, would it be your priority right now? What would be out of interest?

Finally that SQ42 update you've all been waiting for:

"Specifically for SQ42, the team continued to work on vendor behaviors and functionalities. They extended some of the vendor functionalities to use ‘scooching’ animations to drive specific actor performances into the systemic vendor behavior. They also continued to develop the chow-line sequence mentioned last month that enable NPCs to collect cutlery, plates, and warm-up food. "

No more dirty tables and plates - Wahoo!

And buried in the middle of dreams;

"This means a lot of these issues will become irrelevant due to the systems being used in a slightly different way. "

A complete rewrite and 8 years 'work' being irrelevant. Costly but irrelevant. Due to not planning it in the first place, again. Which means working on the wrong thing at the wrong time and then having to undo everything on the wrong thing as it doesnt work with the thing that should have been built first. Again. This is where the money is going, on a never ending roundabout of progression, binning it and starting again but with more added and still more being done elsewhere that will have to be binned in 2 years or more.

Come on LA, look at whats actually being delivered and achieved, not what they say they are 'working on' or 'near-ready' or 'close to release' or whatever. Its just bad management, Da Vinci was the same, took years to finish anything, had to be chased down and threatened to finish what hed promised. Artists....geniuses....dreamers, whatever they are they need a manager if they arent self-motivated enough to finish what they start before starting a 100 other things. They need deadlines imposed, do ABC by XYZ, dream as much as you want as long as its a minimum ABC by XYZ. Then we move onto the next dream and do the same. Otherwise theyre doing ABCDEFGHIJKLM..... by 'soon'.

Yeah, had a laugh at all the "working on" and "almost ready" phrases.

Very little in there to give any indication that stuff is actually being added any time soon.

It is October 2020. Did they have any news on SQ42 entering beta? Or when it will release?

Not a sausage from CIG.

Closest you'll get is them pointing to the roadmap to the roadmap that once released will give a much better picture of where things are.

I'm guessing that picture will be SQ42 nowhere near release and SC release is not even on the roadmap.

CIG are celebrating their 8th birthday on Saturday.

Can't wait to see what the big sale is this year! What new feature or new ship will they introduce? How much devleopment time will they add to the project? Its going to be exciting!
