Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Show on the doll where Chris touched you. You gotta love people like you talking down on a developer because X wasn't good even though the same developer is known for successes. Maybe it stings you just like Derek you haven't accomplished anything to be famous for or maybe you are envious your favorite developer doesn't get the same type of funding?

Why are you spending your free time on hating a video game? I fail to see the point that when you don't like a game and game developer you continue to post about it. You guys have serious issues. And you are kidding nobody with your fake refunds subreddit. None of you care one iota about refunds which are given according to industry standards.

And no, Chris isn't making up excuses. He has always been up front about not willing to make any concessions regarding Squadron 42. Only a fool sees that as an excuse, people who fail at doing research before pledging to a project. Chris wants to make his dream game and he will die trying. He can fail but at least he can't be accused of not giving his all. People like you are no different from traditional publishers and that is why nobody ever dares to create something different. After all a publisher's goal is making as much profit as possible. Finally there are multiple developers who give it all to create their dream game. And that takes an insane amount of time. You and your cult show that you guys have a deficiency to be able to see that a true simulation takes an enormous investment and time to make, something which is difficult to see with traditional games with almost no innovation. Heck, I want people like you to show us you can do better. Create your own dream game or get educated on game development before opening your mouth.

Anyone who complains about a delay now hasn't been paying attention. No roadmap update for months should have been your clue. But heck, if that is all someone gets out of the anniversary update such a person is a lost cause anyway. I am glad Chris has finally stopped giving dates. It will be done when it is done. That is a mantra that is even used by your former subreddit jester. It is sad you guys fail to see you are just like him. You can't convince me you are faking this poo poo for years. You guys are way too obsessed with hating on a game.

Not really a rock solid defense of CIG there...

As one wit pointed out "they couldn't even finish a game of tic-tac-toe :D

I can totally see Crobber and assorted nepotites selling this all off as a going concern to a large development house and walking away laughing. It gets boxed up into something vaguely resembling "the dream" and everyone will breath a sigh of relief that supported it and defend all of crobbers decisions as Godlike.

I can see him going along with the gradual transfer of development work to Turbulent, as slowly as possible to avoid triggering any alarm bells among the faithful. With Roberts in some sort of symbolic consulting role where he pops up in videos or on the forums now and again but doesn't have anything to do with the day-to-day running of the project (unbenknownst to the community). And of course with his part ownership of Turbulent, he still gets his kickbacks and will still claim to have hundreds of people working on the project, it'll just be a different hundreds, or people moved over from CIG which will end up as just another shell company.

While people are still throwing money at him there's no reason for him to pack it in completely, but he'll want to be insulated from the fallout when it finally does become unsustainable, or when they finally release a product which gets absolutely mauled by critics.

Dear sir, please refrain from using the "alpha still lacking <random catchphrase> to do <another random catchphrase>" pattern. You just embarass yourself.
Dear friend, you ask why there is no other systems in the alpha, I give you the response. If it doesn't please you, I can do nothing about it.

The alpha still lacks 2 main techs (not 'random' ones), icache and server meshing.

  • I like the certainty with which he states that Roberts will die before SC is released.
  • Trying and failing is still failing.
  • What has Roberts "given"? It's the backers who have given. Roberts has basically been paid (very well) to to squander other people's money.
  • Roberts isn't creating something "different". He's well known for his derivative and generic ideas, to put it kindly. The only unique thing about SC is that Roberts has managed to promise backers a game that's impossible to make, which is why no one else with more talent or experience has done it.

Correct me if I am wrong, does this mean that for every "refund" there is a sucker backer who has paid for that to get those ships?

Yup. But it also means that CIG didn't get the money they otherwise would have.

Also, melt value, not full value. Its around half a million CIG have screwed themselves out of by allowing the grey market to exist!

That could have bought Sandi several new handbags!

See! CIG aren't all about the money!

Ah, ok. Well, its still at least 250k right?

$250k would be the floor in the case of grey markets and sold accounts like this. Would be more, but get complicated.

And the only reason this exists is because of the artificial scarcity. How much more does CIG pull in using artificial scarcity? Probably worth it for CIG or they wouldnt do it.

How can scarcity be artificial in a market of CI-G games, when there is an actual scarcity of CI-G games due to CI-G simply not releasing any games at all in nearly a decade?

If I sell a limited edition toy car photo for £10 and a year later it sells for £20.....my customers can see that if they buy my newer limited edition toy car for £20 they can sell it for £40....If I sell one for £100 with free infinite reprints if shredded within 24hrs people can see they can potentially earn infinite amounts....not a virtual pyramid scheme at all

At least with Bitcoin you can exchange it for a coffee or a hotdog in real life as well

Dear sir, it's not about pleasure, it's about you helping uncle jack off a horse with your answer.
If you okay with that - keep going, I will not stop you.

But it is truly a pity that after 9 (nine) years of development the alpha (The Alpha) still lacks 2 main (!!!!!) techs.

On a side note - care to explain how lack of server meshing prevents rendering planets (plural) down to the smallest flower?
