Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

I know they were ;) I was just clarifying, because I am far from hating. Ridiculing, as deserved, yes. Hating? Nah, hate is a destructive feeling :)

Yeah I really "hate" how freely some people apply the term but it cant be helped, better use it to make some fun and hope its not getting misunderstood :)

Subjective, but Star Citizen actually looks very nice to be honest.

Its true, if your focus is visual and you have 300+ millions and a legion or art developers at your disposal things tend to look beautiful. Just a shame that this is the only thing SC has going for it right now. I mean people expect a game at the end and not just a good looking game...remember...Star Citizens visual appeal was only ever a secondary bonus....the quality of the game in terms of scope, immersion and gameplay was what made all the people go crazy. And today none of those things is there

You see, people are testing the alpha. This is what its designed for. Nobody has any right to get upset over people testing it multiple times to confirm it indeed is a bug.

Its perfectly fine as long as everyone playing Star Citizen fully understands the only purpose of the alpha is to test things and should have no expectation of a stable experience.

Of course, all backers and CIG should do their upmost to stress this is the point of alpha and in no way to try and project that it is in any way meant to be played like a released game and that nobody should try and portray SC as some sort of playable game. Certainly no backers or CIG should try and convince non-backers to play it for a good time as though its something that is there to be enjoyed like a normal game. Certainly no backer or CIG should try and convince anyone that its a reasonably stable experience.

Well.... horse cucumbers. Yeah, CIG and backers have really screwed the pooch on that haven't they?

And here I thought SC was live game since July, 2015:

That quote is from July in 2015. The magic Germans planetary "revolution" was revealed only towards the end of the year, and that has been the pivotal event for many backers to use as a "go to" excuse for some key delays, i.e. "procedural tech planets has changed the game, this is not just a few landing zones anymore" etc.

Seeing all that has happened since, I would actually argue that CIG was possibly fully aware they would not be able to deliver SQ42 in 2015 as announced at the time, never mind the mmo part, and so I would not be at all surprised if they might have come up with a "game changer" that any field related dev at the time could have probably put together with the available off shelf tools, and use it to justify additional delays. Basically a repeat of the 2014 delays based on scope growth.

Had to give that a like, just for the correct use of 'is' (y)

But part of that is understanding what is realistically creatable in the first place.

I could dream up some amazingly fantastic gameplay loops. They might not be realistically implementable.

The bigger concern wasn't that was what they were dreaming up was realistically implementable but even if it was realistically implementable would it actually be fun

The imagination to make the Mix Master fun game play

So true, in hindsight it looks like the idea of Star Citizen was too big for Chris Roberts to grasp in its complexity, thats why he never seemed to come out on top of it but always were limping a few steps behind

On spectrum backers discuss the stats that were recently done.

Naturally some are trying to dismiss the data, probably because 720k backers sounds a lot worse than the million or more they thought there was.

But here's an interesting tidbit.

I know people who create accounts using the referral system. Then spend money to get credit for the referral for the main account. Then after a set amount of time, send that purchase as a gift to the main account and not use that account again.

I wonder how widespread this is, and whether it has a significant impact on the data.
