Well it was announced before the time of the fold was announced.
If this was for fixes and or content there would have been patch notes to read and moan about.
If it's just maintenance, I suspect no patch notes will appear.

Long Maintenance
Have there ever been previous maintenance that has been this long?
Maintenance usually is this long as far as I can recall regular game maintenance.
My memory says yes, probably around a year ago...
...but then, my memory still thinks about the days when I was able to remember more than one thing at once....

This is how I feel when things run out of hand and nothing is said on the forum. I don't care about what is and what is not. I care about people telling the truth. Instead they resort to Twitter. Utter nonsense. I am negative because of being lied to.

When they talk about patching they are talking about the game. When they talk about maintenance they are normally referring to patching/upgrading the underlying infrastructure. I believe it's all on AWS but I have no idea of the PaaS vs IaaS split. But any IaaS components (VMs essentially) need to be maintained, or things will go all to hell. Sometimes VM maintenance takes longer than you expect.
