Im curious about the actual destination of the Adamastor once it picked up the mystery cargo from Musca Dark Region, if you draw a line from there to its last known "mission location" HIP 69200 (where Prof Carver abandons ship in a Sidewinder after hearing gunfire) the path is heading in a very different direction to its last resting place in Chukchan. I did a bit of search in the area roughly 370ly (a known fuel quantity for the ship) from Musca Dark Region along this red line (search area not shown), possibly the secret base of the long gone Azimuth company could be somewhere nearby? Hi hypothosise that the sudden change in direction toward Chukchan (green line) is because the auto pilot triggered a "return to home" response to the emergency somewhere around HIP 69200, the green line seems to fit with its calculated trajectory into Chukchan by the authorities (green circles) from HIP 69200 quite nicely, so maybe it turned toward Chukchan as soon as the "fight" broke out in HIP 69200. I am wondering if there is something along this green line that we may have missed, possiblly more crashed sidewinders as we know Adamastor was carrying a few.

not necessary. There are either these instructions or the original orders regarding the further path.One thing we know about the listening post is it must be instructions for the Geological Survey base on planet 3 in Musca Dark Region PJ-P B6-1, I was wondering if there was a crack tool that could work on something with a known phrase or something but its not an area Im famliar with!
I'm not quite sure that method will be ok, but binary analysis gives results:I typed out the text yeesh that was fun, ran it through some online de-encryption tools but nothing, the nav instructions seems plausible, what with the readable and translated "WEST" heading, not sure how that references space though lol
I'm still confused by the fact that the characters "WEST" were replaced by "OUEST" in a French-language cmdr's screenshot. I find it unlikely that this is a typo as the ciphertext must have been pasted in to avoid potential mistakes. But having a bit of cleartext in the middle of the code makes it much more difficult to know what to do with. It can't be a cipher than depends on the character's position in the text, as that would mean the rest of the code would be different between languages. So you'd think it would be some kind of simple substitution cipher instead. But then does that mean that the characters WEST, O and U are not substituted? Or that we should leave that part out? The frequency of '4' strongly suggests it is a substitution for the letter 'E', but what about the 'E' in WEST? Hmm...
but we know they changed direction - unless the LP points them onward to yet another unknown thing which redirects to Coalsack - but in that case the m/s log would indicate that. But the m/s log said they went to the K class, then went to Musca.not necessary. There are either these instructions or the original orders regarding the further path.
The thing that strikes me about "west" in any language is.... why?
You can certainly say "Then go West to our scary research facility at [someplace]", but surely your henchmen already know what direction it's in? And putting it in plain text puts so much emphasis on it, anyway.
You could be overthinking this. "West" in French is "Ouest" so if "West" was in clear text, the fact the other Commander was using a French version of the game, the game code may just have been translating any clear text into its French equivalent. The fact this is a code sequence wouldn't have been considered. "Ouest" also has a secondary meaning... "Where is"
That's possible, but I guess it makes it impossible for non-English players to ever decode the message. And if it did that for "WEST", why not for "THE"? I think it's worth checking with other languages to see if they are changed in a similar fashion.
This is what I am thinking as well. The LP may hold some clues as to origin of the Adamastors journey, but we need to know what happened after it departed HIP 69200. This area is where I'm going as soon as I get home from work... This map helps so much! My other thought is there is still something onboard the Adamastor that will show it's face soon enough.let me guess... sirius system ?
WR4564 = wregoe?
Anyone know anything with OORTE?Yhea but that a huge sector :/
Seems to be aiming away from the core of the bubble, maybe something on the edges give or take the odd plausible heading adjustment (or even going beyond!)let me guess... sirius system ?
