Any reason to own a Beluga?

Hey all,

For a change of pace - and to get some materials as rewards - I thought I'd outfit one of my Anacondas for Passenger missions. Haven't done any of these for years, but thought I'd just see where the game takes me, grabbing a mission at each port I land at.

While I know I can outfit an Anaconda for this role, and my Python if I was concerned about Medium Pad access, I got to thinking about the Passenger liner class of ships in the game. Do these ships actually offer anything other than Luxury Cabins? Also, is there much value in this cabin class?

From what I recall Pythons and Anaconda's made far better general passenger ships that their size class in Liners, and the Luxury Cabin didn't really make said Liners a must have for it. However, years after I last did Passenger missions, are there any merits to the Liner class ships? Specifically the Beluga cos I sorta fancy giving it a try IF it is competent in the role.

Note: I'm aware this is quite subjective, but I really would like to hear peoples thoughts are uses for this ship and if there's any real value in it over another ship.

Cheers,

Scoob.

You can fill it with luxury cabins and scoop mats at CZs
Don't pick a side, just do slow passes so your fares get a show.
I literally just fly with the scoop open.🐳
Stay on the edges ....

No materials drop unless a Player is actively fighting though - well, they never used to, has something changed? I assume you're saying there's a specific Passenger mission type where they want to tour a CZ?

Nope. Best to buy a Krait Mk2

Got one, love it. Just thinking about trying something different is all and was hoping the Liners finally had a bit more of a niche they exploited.

I prefer the Orca myself

They're decent for stacked sightseeing missions. If you can get a bunch of them at the same time , your huge fuel tank will allow you to do them all in short order.

What sort of loadout do you run? Can they defend themselves? Just doing some runs in my Anaconda, and it melts any attackers thus far. I'm fine with running though, if that's what a ship is best at lol. I used to LOVE running passenger missions in my Type 10 back in the day. Hunting around various stations to pick up several missions for the same destination. Then the chain interdictions when I got close....lovely lol. T7 was really good at running away, and decent at evading Interdiction too.

I initially tried to fight, but ultimately gave up on it. It's just not worth the effort. Especially since the Beluga is crazy maneuverable, so you never should lose an interdiction.

I run 4 luxury cabins and the rest fuel tanks. No scooping for me, thanks!

I have a Beluga.

The COVAS speaks French, it has a gold interior and goes "pzzing" when it boosts. The flight deck is like a penthouse suite. It runs bubble tours for large groups of passengers. A true Luxury Cruise-Whale, it has an option to auto-pop any champagne bottle corks in the vicinity whenever the heatsinks are engaged.

*Please do not smoke in the cabin.
*Passengers may be jettisoned without warning.
