Pulse Wave Scanner Works...Backwards

Sell half your ships you don't fly 😁
I took that advice and sold 8 ships I am never going to use but for storage. I was able to clean up modules a little, still have a lot to either assign to a ship or sell! The MAT grinding is doing me in. Starting to burn, big time, and just couldn't see even needing those ships, nor grinding MATS for them. Good call, was time! ;) And banked back a half $billion$ to put toward the ships I am going to use! I feel a weight lifted. Ha!

Well done!
its a hamster wheel after a while, there are detriments to making every ship a G5 edge case as well technically speaking.
Take your strongest ship and drop into every USS to find is real good for random mats.
Get hatchbreakers and go nuts in anarchies, turn off report crimes first 👼

Ha! Hamster wheel, indeed! I am an expert in MAT grinding, but man, even being very good with MAT grinding... I just couldn't see the value in 8 ships I am never going to use, for anything serious. Yeah, they looked pretty on the INARA Fleet page, but that's about it. Ha! Thanks!

I hate to beat this dead horse, but just wanted to describe my current Core Mining experience and see if it jives with what others are experiencing. So right now, having bad time. Can't find a VO Core to save my life. I've found one in like an hour. I have noticed, if you turn around and re-scan the area you were just scanning, you do seem to see more lit up asteroids. However, and at least with what I have going on right now, those asteroids do not seem to be Cores anyway. So yeah, the scanner is wacked but, so is the actual core count. It's been cut to a fraction of what it was. So what I would say, is they need to fix the PWA and the quick hits and then gone, the rocks showing up behind you... and they need to put back the pre-patch Core RNG number, this is stupid. This takes all fun out of the game. I try to look at it as a challenge but after an hour and one VO Core, it's frustrating, and at that point no longer ANY fun, it's a maddening grind, a joke on the player.

I've never seen Core Mining this bad! Insane, over 8 hours of THIS, and was still 2t VO short in the Krait cargo at the end, and had to take over 50t of LTD because finding a VO Core was worse than a needle in a haystack! So, PWA, Core generation, bad spot, bad field RNG? I've never seen it this bad.

Really?

Insane!

This is madness!

[ makes waving motion with arms in place of posting spiffy video subtly demonstrating player's game acumen and achievements ]

And yes, the PWA is still "glitchy."

Finally

Finally, a bit of encouraging news on the PWA.

Yes, even FD called it the Pulse Wave Scanner in the video - but they can call it a Margarita for all I care, so long as they fix it. Anyway, it's a bit of a lengthy video ( https://www.twitch.tv/videos/806214733?sr=a&t=1233s ) but they address mining balances starting next week AND fixing the PWA.

They said they are aware of the PWA not working correctly, and will be working on fixing it after some mining balance work next week. Again, for the PWA Deniers in the house - Frontier Developments is aware of the PWA issue, they acknowledged it and are going to fix it. Of course, no need to take my word for it - the Frontier Development team video just posted (above) is the word on the PWA in ED.

Yeah sure, I'll miss flipping my ship over while firing off my old PWA, but it will be refreshing to get back to mining with a PWA restored to full functionality.

Stay tuned, and stay safe out there Commanders.

I would watch this video, at least the "Mining" rebalance and PWA mention and draw your own conclusion. I think, things are going to get even worse.

I didn't hear anything about "fixing" the PWA(scanner) in that video. All I heard is they are "Well aware of it" and it's on their "radar" and will be taking a look at it AFTER the mining rebalance changes, which means, they are not going to do anything with the PWA/scanner, any time soon.

Seriously?!

They are aware of the PWA issue, they are looking at it and although they may not have said they will be "fixing it", but I'm going to draw the intelligent line of thinking, and be encouraged they are at least looking at it with the intent to work on it.

As for the assertion they are not going to do anything with the PWA anytime soon, they said so much themselves. They are aware of it, working on it and will address it after they work on the mining rebalances.

It's pretty simple.

As compared to where things were regarding the FD acknowledged PWA issue only a week ago, this IS now encouraging news about the PWA issue.

I hope so, but I have seen little good come from FDEV in the 6 years I've been playing this game. They almost seem to hate their players. It's very odd. Any other game company would have fixed something like this nearly immediately, but not this FDEV. Not only do they NOT fix broken stuff, quickly as though it's some sort of programming issue beyond the limited comprehension of our small brains, but they almost always make things worse than they were. Let's hope I am wrong, this time. Would be nice to have a 100% working PWA AND a higher payout for Cores, and, just MORE Cores!

Yeah well, we saw this with the 4 or 5 Fleet Carrier updates.
A fundamental change of the PWA will most likely drastically change the result of core mining. So first bring mining back into balance and then "fix" the PWA afterwards? There is nothing simple about this, except that it is simply a stupid idea. If the first part is true, it only can mean a fix of the PWA can't be seriously on their agenda.
Sounds strange that they would make core mining more profitable than laser mining but not fix.

Mmmmmkay.

Is it possible to at least say that as compared to 2 weeks ago, there is now some slight hope of seeing the PWA issue eventually fixed?

So, basically all I'm saying is different is Frontier Developments ED guys actually talked about the PWA in the just released video, and they're acknowledging the PWA issue and hope to address it in the near future.

That's pretty much it.

That's all I was saying.

[ knowing such a simple statement is certain to draw comments like blood in the water of the forum ocean, especially posters scrambling to always have the last post in the matter.

Just co-robboratin' my assertion.

I assert the PWA is still porked, but hell they might just fix it.

Could happen.

Chill, it's cool. We're just talking, voicing opinions and thoughts. All good and constructive. I lean more pessimistic with this FDEV, but that's just me based on how I've seen them operate. Just going on past experience, and understanding how much they are hyper focused on Odyssey. Tell you though, I need to go Core mine and not even looking forward to it, at all! If it's anything like last time, it's enough for me to call it a day with Core Mining.

Lead Community Manager Arthur Tolmie announced that he is aware of issues with the Pulse Wave Scanner and is pushing daily to have a fix released soon ... Watch Supercruise News #13 on Twitch here >>

Earlier in the same stream they discussed balancing payouts for all activities in Elite Dangerous in coming weeks, suggesting Core Mining payouts will be superior to Laser Mining to reflect the higher skill level involved.

They did say they were going to buff the prices on all of the other core types as well. Maybee things like Alexandrite and serendibite will be financially competitive to VOs now.
