Smuggling influence question

"I've heard mention..." clarifies nothing and in no way supports your claim that I "got" my answer.

You could just admit you don't know...
Don't ever recall saying I did know? Only that I heard a rumour that I hadn't verified, and it sounds like all the other responses are just as uncertain.

I gave a speculative answer; makes sense to me that if trading for a loss flips the influence effect of normal market sales, it'd do the same for black market... I've certainly had anecdotal experiences to back that. If that's not the answer you want to hear, fine. But don't shoot the messenger.

I acknowledge this. Which is why I was 'snippy' (although I wasn't being snippy) about you telling me I "got" my answer the way you did.

Yes it makes sense to me too, did you not wonder if I'd thought about this? I had thought about it, but it would be guessing... again. It's not about whether I want to hear it (you're making this personal again...) or not, it's whether it answers the question that was asked.

It is absolutely possible that trading 244T of illicit landmines at 1500cr profit per ton will negatively affect the influence of the controlling faction as much as it would by selling 244T of gold at the same profit per ton. But ... I only wanted to know if someone KNEW for a fact.

I guess someone could know. But some things are kept secret. Even by the players.

I wish using a blackmarket for profit to the player would also have effects on the BGS, because then it would be a motivation to do so. You simply can make more money with selling gold than landmines (over the black market) because the average price is higher.

As gold must be stolen to be sold at a black market and landmines can be bought at other systems (and also be stolen of course), there should also be a difference between legally bought cargo and stolen cargo, sold to a black market.

as I write this...that is also a new perspective to the plot to me ;-)

This is going nowhere.

No one knows, let's leave it at that. It could have been left at that half a page ago.

If I get to test it, I will post my results here.
I have been running Narcotics into systems to undermine influence. This has worked when selling at both a profit and loss.

The intended effects of Black Market trade at profit/loss did not seem to affect the outcome - 'Pirate Attack' and Loss of Influence.
