🐧 Planet Zoo: Aquatic Pack arriving 8 December! 🐧

I don't know why it doesn't let me to upload pics from phone, but my argument is mainly model-wise. I can't put my finger on what exactly is wrong, but aside form Lion, the wolf is second worst game to IRL compared animal imo

The Arctic wolf probably received some minor adjustments from the timber wolf base to solidify it as its own animal.

Idk but I think there are some changes around eyes, ears and snout. And most importantly fur. If they used that model for timberwolf it would be great.

I feel like OG timber wolf is too skinny, the ears are too close, head is somewhat rhomboid etc, etc

Even Dingo is 10/10

IDK what they did, but Arctic wolf model is way better, for two animals that should've same model

EDIT :

You know I had to go back and look at both wolves closely, since I honestly have not used them much yet. But I do agree with you that the fur texture in the Artic wolf since to be fuller. The face and body of the wolf included with the base game would definitely have benefited from a little more fur, and that seemed to be the issue with a lot of the animals. Not sure how difficult is to get this correct in the virtual world, but that is one thing I keep on seeing with many of the earlier models. Anatomically speaking both wolves look the part to me, they are proportionate. Not sure if this progress was made after the base game, but the latest animal inclusions have all been superb. It would be interested when they add a species that is heavily coated or has a mane, to see what level of progress they have truly accomplished.

The Dingo is absolutely a 10. I thought that would be where you were going, but was not sure. That is definitely the case with the base game animals. I work with clay animals, mainly as a hobby, and it is the exact same thing. If I create an animal like a bear or wolf using just clay it would definitely feel off, even though anatomically speaking, everything is proportionate and the way it should be. As I start adding layers of fiber and flocking the animals, they start becoming more lifelike and fuller. The same I can imagine is the virtual model concept and process. If it is anything like what I do, it must be a tedious and time consuming process for them, because you have to add layers over layers in order for it to look realistic. I wonder if they add each hair individually to the animal. Would love to know more about this process, wish I was younger, would have definitely looked into it.

.... Since we're on the topic of reptiles, the Alligator snapping turtle would make an excellent choice for a vulnerable status North American aquatic animal. It's plenty big for a habitat animal, exists in many zoos, and looks really cool. :)
Except they are EXTREMELY boring. All they do is sit in one place all day long. I've seen these in person.
They'd have to make them move more than they do in real life just to make them even the slightest bit interesting.

True! But to be fair, this is true of most habitat reptiles I have seen in person. Most of the reptiles(and really most of the animals in general) have gotten a boost to their activity level. For example, I have probably seen a lion 50+ times in zoos. About six to ten of these experiences were truly active. A few running and playing and a mating witnessed, but typically just lounging in a tree or laying in the sun. Nearly all animals in PZ have this activity boost, so I imagine the same would be true for the sedentary snapping turtle.

True.

They are at least 2 Times (maybe more often) in the Career-Mode confirmed to be Northwestern Wolves.

They aren't confirmed to be anything in career mode, because their binomial is Canis lupus, not Canis lupus occidentalis. Without that subspecific name they are just a generic grey wolf. Perhaps for the purpose of those two career zoos they are considered to be Northwestern wolves, but for any other purpose they could be any other wolf subspecies.

In my Opinion a official Statement from Frontier regarding the Wolf Subspecies would be great

Their range map in the zoopedia also see them as Canis lupus without a subspecies. My theory is that they were planning on making it Canis lupus occidentalis, but changed it to just Canis lupus late in the process, so they could argue that Europe was represented in the base game. I am pretty sure they announced before the game came out that every continent (without Antarctica) would be represented from the start.

Ah the villain that got picked over a sea lion. Oh well, at least it looks amazing. ❤ I am really curious to see them moving in game.

Whaaaat? No, no, no. The seal has rightfully earned it's spot in this pack.
And if I wouldn't have bought the DLC anyway (because I'm a builder and collector), THIS would have send me over the edge. Two more days and I am finally on the hype train and can't wait for the release. (Does not mean my critique does not still stand, does mean though that I get this butterfly feeling of love again)
