Panther clipper?
Anyone know any news?
c'mon fdev... we're waiting...

We went through a lot of bad this year. Everyone did... would be a nice note to end 2020 with the release of the panther clipper!

I wanna call my panther the Vengeful Spirit...
Dude I just posted an answer to a FC thread.

Fleet Carriers are the Panther Clipper you always wanted. It's a massive cargo ship, buy one and do your space trucking.

We're going to need a much bigger pad for the Panther Clipper. Heck, it might not even be able to land in a station. FD might have to implement external docking.

I have always hoped that the Panther Clipper would follow the lines of someone else's idea [forget who you are, sorry] where the ship splits into two parts: cockpit, life support, cargo, thrusters etc for docking and unloading and the remainder [FSD, weapon mounts etc.] would wait outside thus allowing a greater cargo capacity on the same large pad.

Just one idea to make it different

Guys, you need to accept the Panther Clipper, while it was considered by Frontier, will never actually be in the game.

How can I be so sure of that?

Consider the original Panther Clipper from FEII, it was the biggest fly-able ship in the game, it needed 12 crew, it could hold 2,000 tonnes cargo. These features are simply impossible in the current version of ED. The closest you could get would be a brick the size of the docking slot and the footprint of a large landing pad, and that simply would not hold 2,000 tonnes cargo.

And no, it would not be a ship so large it would be unable to dock, that's a Long Range Cruiser (the long brick shape the two Eagles fly under in the FEII intro sequence) and it won't have normal ED ships dock with it, as that role is filled by a fleet carrier.

I am all for having more ships in ED, but I have to also accept it won't happen. People argue ship interiors have no gameplay reason to be in the game, and this is actually true of the much-discussed Panther Clipper.

Do FCs have a large landing pad?

If so then a PC could land of that so the whole too-big-for-the-mailslot thing might be a moot point.

WOW really?! I wanted it to be a ship launched fighter!
(sarcasm)

Edit: sorry I am being a bit triggered sorry
Its all good, just give it a minute.

Considering every mock up they did of the PC was on a large landing pad.....

Oh my bad, Panther Clipper LX.

Its never going to be anything but, I said the same thing about the Krait being a medium.

so long as its twice as long as the type 9 and half as speedy I'll be indifferent ;) Never did get the attraction of the Panther Clipper but I reckon it'll be available from Hutton when they give everyone a Cobra IV
... And half as speedy... ROFL... Just how long will it take to dock? The T9 is already a snail...

I'd quite like something in between a Cutter / T9 and a Fleet Carrier. As a casual player (most of the time) the gap between these 2 is probably about a year or so of game play (at a rough guess, please dont Cr / Hr calculate this, I'd rather just fly around having fun and earn whatever I earn). A personal Carrier with room for 4-5 ships, some ability to hold stock (2-5000 t), refuel, repair and re-arm would be nice.

When we get a CG to expand all stations with XL landing pads, then you know the Panther Clipper will be arriving soon.
