No access to carrier cash for ship insurance rebuy

My ship was destroyed and was duly informed I didn’t have enough cash to buy back on the insurance. Ended up having to sell one of my other ships to pay insurance. Why didn’t the buy back allow me access to the billions of credits I had transferred to the carrier! Is this a bug or done on purpose?

If you don't have enough money in your account to pay a direct debit, it will bounce, however much money you have in your account with another bank. :)

Same principle. Personally, I keep most of the money in my own account, and just feed the FC when it needs it.

Given the amounts involved, it seems both unwise and unlikely for somebody to accidentally pump so many credits into their FC's balance that they leave themselves without sufficient funds for a rebuy.

"Hey, I've got enough credits to spend Cr5bn or more on an FC but unless I move ALL my additional credits into it's balance there won't be enough to pay the next 6 months of upkeep, and that's going to leave me really short of pocket-money!"

Pro tip: Games have "pitfalls". This is one of them.

Sadly, this is really no different to just spending all your credits then risking no rebuy. I'd definitely not have assumed I'd be able to access the carrier management screen during the rebuy process.

I can't think that it's a bad idea to have that option but to just assume you'd be able to is equally fallible as just forgetting rebuy.

What now? What other ship? When you are destroyed you can pay insurance to get destroyed ship back, or loose it if you choose the stock Sidewinder.
I'm not sure what you think you did there...
