Remote Buy Back

I've just had three people tell me that you can Buy Back modules that were REMOTELY sold. Including by Support Agent Gemini (Frontier Developments) and a Mod. Can someone please explain how to do this, since you cannot seem to do this from the Outfitting menu at station you're at.

If you have rebuy available then it will look like this:

You'll need to be looking at an appropriate slot for the module you sold.

Not sure it will be available if you move location - though (I was surprised) it is available after a relog.

How do you get to this menu? I tried to find a way to rebuy within 5 minutes without logging out or leaving the station (Station Services>Outfitting It was not. available in either Optional Modules or Other Module menu). (7A prismatic)

I was on Schweikart City and transferring the module from my fleet carrier in the same system, although Frontiers tells me I sold the module instead of transfer. Within 5 minutes, I tried to "buy back" at Schweikart City but could not, because it was not listed (it only listed modules that were sold AT Schweikart). I tried to see if there was an option from the fleet carrier management menu, but no luck there either. How do you get to that menu?

I went from Schweikart City> Services>Outfitting>Stored Module (Transfer 8A power plant and 7A prismatic stored on FC). 8A powerplant arrived in 5 minutes, but 7A prismatic did not. Backed out of Stored Modules... Without leaving Outfitting, went into Optional Modules 7 slot, but only buy backs available were 4D and 2D HRP, which I sold AT Scheikart City. Backed out of Optional Modules menu, without leaving Outfitting, went back into Stored Modules, and could not find a way to Buy back on FC. without exiting Stored Modules panel, went into #4 side panel and carrier management, and looked for ways to buy back, but ended up empty handed

The menu option is available from any of the slots that will fit one of the modules you sold (when you buy it back, it must be into a ship).

Though I'm pretty sure that this doesn't work remotely, as the module isn't available at the local station if you do that.

But it wasn't available when I went to the Optional Module 7 slot at Schweikart City... You all seem to be saying I should be able to access the Optional Module 7 slot on the Fleet Carrier form Schweikart City, but please tell me HOW

You really are best writing to support dude. I suspect going to the FC thing counts as leaving outfitting, but I haven't done that personally. Just trying to help pal.

Note that I searched Outfitting (Stored Module and Optional Modules) BEFORE leaving to FC management. I appreciate you trying to help, but people keep saying it should be possible to buy back remotely without explaining HOW. note that this is what Support is also telling me that I should have been able to buy back (remotely), but without telling me how (meaning, I DID contact support, and they were not helpful )

The only way I have ever seen this work is...

  • Land at a station.
  • Sell a module.
  • You can buy it back into any slot in the ship that will fit it if you change your mind.

I wouldn't expect this to work if you sell an item remotely. You lose the buy back option as soon as you undock.

Whether the above is how it's meant to work, I've no idea. But that's how it works for me.

I think it depends how close to the next server tick you are (or mission board refresh or whatever it's called). I noticed it sometimes will remain in place for several minutes, at times it's gone almost immediately. I suppose the idea is that if you clicked the wrong button by accident you can undo this through this option, as long as you act quickly (benefited a few times from it myself, at other times I was too slow and module was gone).

I'm pretty sure I sold the HRPs before the transfers

All I can suggest (and repeat) is write to support again. Copy in this thread if you don't want to write it all out again, I imagine it will help them. They are generally very helpful, and perhaps misunderstood your first message? I'm just guessing at that though. Give it a go again dude.
