Best HOTAS and VR System for elite

X56 is great.
I found FA off a natural progression - probably started using it a bit after 500hrs after reading about it. Use it alot now and probably leave it off at some point in the future.
I am 32 hours in and trying to learn Flight Assist now. It’s tough but rewarding. I have learned you need to put throttle into full range mode and now I can handle it better.

I have started with the x52 and have enjoyed the HOTAS experience but am dealing with a power issue with the stick. Anyone solve this issue? I have seen many threads covering the x52 and x52 pro where the stick loses center requiring disconnect/reconnect of the ps/2 connection.

I was thinking about the Oculas Quest 2 but the recommendation for the HP Reverb g2 is the way I will go. The $300 to $600 price difference seems to be worth it.

Do you have your X52 hooked to a powered USB hub? If not, I'd give that a try. X52s are notoriously power hungry.

I have it connected through the powered USB hub on my monitor. It should proved 2.4amps for the HOTAS. I have played with other power options even opening up the HOTAS to measure power. The stick draws down VCC from 5.0V to 4.8V. The Stick needs its own power I think. I saw a youtube video where a person spliced USB power into the jumper between the throttle and stick.

I am about to get the x56 as I like the combination. What about the Warthog?

a Warthog is a very different experience than any X-Series Hotas. There's no twist on the stick, so whatever the twist was assigned to (yaw I'd assume) has to go somewhere else (joystick x-axis in my case, roll went to the throttle). Also everything feels much heavier and more realistic (as one would expect). If you have relatively small hands the Warthog isn't a good idea.

Thanks! So HOSAS would have YAW on the same stick as throttle?

For my HOSAS setup I have pitch(x), roll( y), and yaw(twist) in the right stick and lateral(x), forward/back( y), and up/down(twist) on the left stick. IOW, all the rotation axes on the right and all the translation axes on the left.

If you plan on using non-space flight simulators, I would probably avoid swapping the yaw and roll axes since it will make it hard to switch to the more standard layout that aircraft use.

that depends on your preference. You are free to set it any way you like.

agreed. "Muscle memory" will mess things up in that case. I decided to put yaw on joy-x because I need to aim rails and I failed to hit even once while yaw was on my rudder pedals. For non-space flight sims I'd definitely keep roll on joy-x and move yaw back to the rudder pedals.
