Game Discussions Cyberpunk 2077 - official gameplay

Thanks for the nudge. 6%. Dare I start the game though? Given I have a 10'o'clock with the neurologist tomorrow (8%) the correct answer is an emphatic 'no'. 'Great'. 11%.

Then again, just a quick look can't hurt... right...? 12%.

I'm going to wait for midnight to download it, start it into the menu, faff around the options, then close it again and pick it up tomorrow properly with a hot capuccino on my desk, for a "proper" first play. :)

Yeah, I'm afraid that my "I'm just gonna start the Nomad route to check out the brunette chick and see if I like the path before switching to my theorycrafted Corpo" is going to turn into 10 hours of hardcore gaming session (after which I'm going to go die to the office)

Doctor's appointment, though, yeah. That's a pretty decent reason to not go overboard with this, tonight. :)

Nomad? Corpo? Ha, there are only two classes: Solos and victims.

Ah... so he’s following the standard role-playing game protagonist procedure, then. :D
It was so irritating watching him play I had to turn it off...several octaves more frustrating than watching my wife play Skyrim, or even worse than that, watching her shopping and looking at every label on every packet or tin in the shop...and why I rarely watch streamers at all :cautious:

I think i could spend hours just riding a bike round the city admiring the view.

I still hate to see people switch to 3rd person camera to drive or ride bikes in games...unnatural :D

Listening to music while riding is also a prelude to signing your own death warrant in real life...you remove one of the primary senses that may well save your life on a bike ;)

Listening to music while riding is also a death sentence in real life...you remove one of the primary senses that may well save your life on a bike ;)

Indeed, I was quite happy when I learned we could drive in first person view just like in GTA 5. :)

I'm also quite curious to see how if feels to ride bikes in CP2077... Most games fail spectacularly when trying to depict motorcycles.

In first person camera...it actually looked pretty good. I really want to hear how one of Keanu's ARCH motorbikes sound...I've only heard the big twins on videos I've seen... S&S RevTec engines, they sound almost as nice as my Evo Harley :)

I'm going to experiment a bit to see. I "only" have a 1080Ti, so no DLSS or RTX or any of that. But I've managed to have good 4K experiences in every game so far, including NMS, E: D, and MSFS.

So I'm hoping with the quality dialled back a bit from the "High" setting, that will still be possible.

What I usually do is use the Geforce Experience software to set the nvidia recommended definitions first (assuming they're available), then experiment raising some stuff (if necessary) to see with how much I can get away with.

Half way through clearing a cave in skyrim
Dragonborn: "Guys, I'm going to need to pick this up later, I'm at my encumbrance with cups/mugs/forks/items worth 1 gold if I sell them, so I need to fast travel to Whiterun and go see Belethor."

Nowadays I always take at least 3 followers with me, to carry my burdens. Also as soon as I nail my first wolves, off to the tanning rack to make a full set of these: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/2417

Most games fail spectacularly when trying to depict motorcycles.

My issue with motorcycles in games is that they simply can't capture what to me is a big big thing: the smell. Not the smell of hot oil after the engine got warm (although if like Mole you ride a HD, you're doomed to always smell of oil leak :p ), but the scent of the countryside as you cruise and the air pushes through the helmet. Compared to the enclosure of the car, it feels like you suddenly have grown an extra sense. I swear I could identify the various sections of my old commute eyes closed, just with my nose.

I can deal with unrealistic just fine for cars and bikes, and in the case of the car, feel like I'm there (Interstate '76 did a fantastic job in that regards). But for the motorcycle? I really really miss that fresh air and the scent of the landscape.

In a Dystopian Cyberpunk Future, inst it the prelude to being rebuilt in to a Protagonist?

 My Harleys have never dripped so much as a thimblefull of oil since I've had them (lost an odd nut or bolt here and there though)...mainly because I use them properly and ride them all year round. My Springer has 173,000 miles on the clock, the Fatboy chop has 78,000 miles on it...all ridden by me. As for the rest of your post...spoken like a true biker :)

I had a discussion with a chap at a service station a while back where he asked me if I was bothered by wind noise through riding with an open face helmet all year round...I replied that I couldn't hear the wind noise over the roar from my exhausts :D

Down to my last few...

Haha, fair enough. And no, I'm really no biker, I enjoyed a Suzuki Bandit for a few years, for the commute and some trips around the local countryside, but had to call it a day after some fainting episodes that would have been a little lethal had they decided to happen when riding. I really miss that rush of air through the helmet though...

I imagine that is a similar feeling to what I get with sailing simulator games.

Something about the enclosed nature of a car/plane lends itself to computer simulation so much better.

Yup, and the gaming seating position matching that of the pilot too I guess. It feels that more immersive, despite the same limitations in terms of handling, field of view, etc.
