If it jumps to bats and then back to humans, will it mutate?
We need to inject Pfiser into Rudy. :)

For the President of the Constitutional Council in France, Laurent Fabius, "The climate change is much more serious" than the Covid-19. 👍

"The climate change is, in a way, much more serious than the Covid, including in terms of health".

"The paradox is that we are not making the same effort to fight climate change that we are making to fight against Covid."

It's not really a paradox though - is it?

Climate change actions are difficult because a significant number of people will always point at other countries and say "There's no point in us doing anything because China/India/USA etc aren't - so let's not try"

Which is patently untrue with Covid - countries have proved you can mostly beat Covid without needing China/India/USA to do anything.

One thing Covid has taught us is that even if countries set a good example others will ignore it and have bad outcomes. The lack of a global consensus around covid really just reinforces why agreements like the Paris climate accord are important in driving change. Imagine if the world had come together and agreed to try and eradicate covid early on, instead of just accommodating it...

Excellent analysis that you are doing. (y)

This is exactly what the President of the Constitutional Council said.

"The tools exist. It suffices to fully apply the Paris agreements".

Government seems to be a super-spreader function:

Atty. Jenna Ellis has it now too, and was in close proximity to her team mate Guliani during his unfortunate televised accident in court. This raises the question of catching it from flatulence.

(The answer seems to be a qualified... No?)
On the bright side, that's the first 2 cases with positive results! 🥂

There are some horrible reports of a new mystery disease in Andhra Pradesh, suggesting something neurological. Convulsions, vomiting and one death, about 500 affected at once. Looks like poisoning rather than infection...

Edit:

Guessing it's lead chromate in the tumeric. 🔬

Incredible. First they deny the numbers, now they suppress them. What country does she live in again?

Numeracy is a big problem there. But it's safe to say that 100% of them think about 50% of them are crazy. :D

Wikipedia just posted this:

So far it doesn't appear to be the thing we all dreaded: a new coronavirus mutation that was more contagious, afflicted children, or caused encephalitis like in Contagion.

I checked with Indian nurses who can read the source news in native script. A wide battery of viral causes has been screened for, with no result. Looked at the actual reports online.

The increased incidence in children is compatible with the idea of neurotoxic poisoning, as smaller bodies respond to lower doses. But the event looks like single large dose lead poisoning to me, distributed across the region. It's a real riddle, how that happened, as poisonous curry powder would have a multiple dose pattern with insidious onset, not this kind of thing.

Russian Vaccine should not be mixed with alcohol. Somewhat unfortunate for the festive period.

Not a problem for me, I prefer tonic in my gin anyway

3124 dead yesterday, in USA.
Protesting vs masks and vaccines there is approaching a fever pitch too. Florida megachurch politically connected preacher thinks vaccinating is the Mark of the Beast. How long till we read he's in ICU?

Expected toll should hit 300,000 dead before the end of the week. Then the Thanksgiving effect begins. The denialists will learn the same amount as they did at the beginning: exactly zero.

Reality slowly closes in on them. Rugged individualism, bootstraps, paranoid conspiratorial thinking and freedom to endanger the population have not worked out so well. 🦕

Our MMR shots are delivered yesterday. Picking them up in a cooler today from work. 8 cases reported yesterday, lowest in a while here. Once vaccinated with these, our personal risk should be relatively negligible. The contrast is black and white.

I expect it to hit 4000. They're running at a roughly 2% mortality rate. The infection rate has been 200K for a while now. Numbers don't lie. Throw in the extra that will die because their ICUs are flooded and that their DRs and RNs will probably just call it a day and it'll probably get to 6K. Nothing to worry about, just a mild flu.

I read that experts predict 150,000 more deaths by the end of February.

A few weeks ago, the Trump administration said the United States could have 500,000 dead in the spring of 2021.

For the moment they are in the numbers.
