Please give us an option for our cmdr to NOT be duck footed

I have woodland feet for running in the bush among roots, branches, and such. Not so practical on barren rocks and in spacesuits perhaps, nor shoes for that matter. Good on turns, less than perfect on the straightaway. ;)

The one thing that just irked the hell out of me in that 'teaser' was the footprints and subsequent showing of the cmdr walking like a damn duck, please, I don't want to see that when I see my footprints, make our cmdrs walk like damn humans....feet forward.
What is "walking like a duck"?
How about we wait until we can walk around in the Alpha/Beta testing and then give Frontier our feedback? Asking for changes based on a 80-second trailer is stupid.

I just tried walking like that (feet forward, straight line front to back)... feels completely unnatural to me. Just watched my feet land naturally, they're always at about a 350/10 degree angle (left/right) 🤷‍♀️

I mean, I do occasionally move with feet straight front to back, but that's for specific situations, or martial stances, not everyday walking.

I'd like to tinker with my suit systems to that whenever I walk, an animal sound would be played. Perfect kind of cosmetic stuff to go for ARX!

Try walking like an egyptian, much more difficult.
On a serious note. Alot of people walk like this though.
Edit: Ahh... whut Jmanis said!

I mean I know people walk like that, just strange it actually being used in something like this, I'm the opposite as a few of you, my feet are parallel naturally without trying. I think, moreso, it's just the sheer angle they have the feet in the trailers that gets me, dunno, hard to really describe.

For what it's worth, they do seem to kind of turn out a bit funny at the last moment in the trailer, though I'm not sure how much I'd notice it if I wasn't looking for it.

Meanwhile, in Manchester.

Idc about the angle of my feet but I am looking forward to bunny hopping in low g, teabagging other cmdrs, and questioning their sexual orientation after I vanquish them.

Online FPS bring out the best in humanity. We are ready to reach for the stars.

I just think it's cool we can leave footprints at all :)

FWIW, though, when I walk in RL, my feet do point nearly straight, with very little angle. Some folks have much more of an angle, it seems rather common. shrug

While I'll admit that after the OP brought this to my attention I thought the pattern looked wrong, I'm not so sure that is the case. A quick Google search shows images of foot prints that are on the same angle as in the game trailer AND the type the OP wants.

I'm sure there is a natural range of variation, but I'd be curious to know what the "normal" or "optimal" pattern is and if that varies due to terrain (snow, pavement, sand, rugged terrain, etc.).

For the record, I can't use my own pattern for anything other than the potential "abnormal." I was born with my feet facing 180 degrees from each other and had to sleep in braces until I was one or two to correct it. While I walk "normally" now, my feet (and knees) do still want to point out at angles instead of straight ahead. Also... completely flat footed. So I have no idea what normal is anyway.

I would think that FDev would've researched all this before the modeled walking into the game. So my initial reaction is they got it right (even if it seems a little weird) and the OP is wrong. I'm sure we'll find out eventually. Any podiatrists on the forums?
