No, the reason for pre-order is that the day of release you will already have it downloaded and installed and will be able to play immediately.

I wonder if on the day of release of Odyssy (whenever that may be, the start of alpha is still unknown), you will be ready to play, or suffering from the usual server disconnects that accompany any ED launch day?

Forget it, I dodn't realise there were 3 download options in the frontier sotre, I am so annoyed, more with myself I guess!

Nope, sitll didn't work, it downloaded an installer, did a few updates for MS stuff, then vanished and that was it!

I like the new lighting and the ice. Very nice. Hopefully it's real in-game footage and not some pimped out trickery. I also hope it's galaxy wide and not just a few select planets in the bubble. The rest is not my thing. I never asked for an FPS shooter in ED, but if that's what makes the kids happy and buy the DLC, it's all good for the game I suppose.

However, I wouldn't call this video new gameplay reveal. Under gameplay I understand something completely different. Well thought out and strong in-game consequences are beginning and end for what I'd call gameplay. And not a sandbox for toddlers where the kids throw sand at each other and nobody knows why.

When you take in the Dev diary's, Odyssey is obviously far more then just running around with a gun shooting stuff.

Also there is a good polygon article worth reading.

No, I didn't! When I checked yesterday & realised that the Odyssey reveal was early morning UK time, I thought 'Stuff that!' I'll watch it in the morning.

Now I've seen it, it does look a bit better with each reveal.....I'll still buy a Deluxe pre-order, when the System settles down & accepts my money without issues.....I just still don't know what I'm buying.....much more info please FD!!!

So how do the different access levels from the lifetime expansion pass (and e.g. the beta access pass) translate into Odyssey?

Which of the goodies will the original backers / life expansion pass holders get?

As the owner of a LEP pass and Beta-backer, I would also be very interested in this. Yes, I know that we LEP owners will get E: D Odyssey for free. Only what will be the scope of this package? Will it be the Deluxe package, will we also get the suit, the OST, alpha/beta access etc? Would there be any problems if an LEP owner bought Odyssey additionally to get certain package content?

It would be nice if FDEV could also make a binding statement on this.

Now I can laugh...........both my kids grew up & have kids of their own.....we can give our grandkids back at the end of the day - not off topic as I've bought them an account to play when they visit & considering if they need the Odyssey dlc

I don't disagree with you BUT I doubt it will be an issue. Game has to run on 2013 vanilla xbox1 so should be ok

Like most people I read the first page of comments then skip to the last for a catch up . Nowhere have I seen that the Alpha is actually live. Also like many of us bought their original game from the frontier store rather than steam, I don’t know whether steam will allow us to download a dlc that the main game isn’t hosted there ? .

On a separate note, my congratulations to the dev team, the new trailer should be enough to draw in a whole new breed of FPS shoot em up space cowboys
