Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

It actually means that Roberts too can salvage his integrity IF he delivers at the end....regardless how late. I mean thats the morale of that story aint it?

I m just a believer of handing out respect and admiration at the right time when its appropriate. I usually dont do this sycophantic "I have faith" chatter thats so widespread in the SC community

Of course my dear Fritz - if Genuine Roberts can deliver to backers what he's promised, there may be hope yet.

I doubt it though. It's been too long, the scope is wildly out of control, progress is basically backwards at this point.

Yep. Cut and paste off steam as of 30 seconds ago.

It's official.
CP 2077 HAS MADE PC HISTORY ON STEAM TOP 20. 1M+ peak PC players on RELEASE (this is a very BIG keyword) day. :ROFLMAO:

BEAT ALL AAA Shoters & PvP games Period. Bugs or no bugs, this game is GOTY 2021. PERIOD. CR needs to be taking some serious notes on this.

edit: looks like some 67% of GTAO players have finally defected to playing something else. Why do I suspect the new DLC R* dropping couple days from now won't be doing a damned thing to reverse this?

GTA lobbies have been a bit emptier, but its worth remembering CP2077 is a single player game and people will burn through the content. I think GTA will be fine for a while yet and from what we've seen of the new DLC, its going to get a lot of people playing. What might cause GTA numbers to drop long term would be CP2077 getting multiplayer, but that's not likely to happen for 2 more years.

Umm.. back on topic. SC bad!

ED being discussed on Spectrum

No. ED has much more systems, yes. But it is always the same. Jump, scoop, scan, jump scoop scan. The missions are just boring after some time. No real multiplayer content. Just grinding, grinding, grinding.

Same as Star Citizen?

LOL

Also, some appear misinformed

Apparently you can't walk around ships or space stations yet, only planets - and even then, only dead planets. Nothing like Arccorp or Microtech. I haven't played NMS or Dual Universe but they look dull, silly, and cartoony to me.

Walking around stations is confirmed.

no no... SC is jump 30k jump 30k... totally different mechanic

The Fraction is of the station, not the number of stations

Though as far as I am aware, there has not been an answer on the gravity less outposts

Outposts have interiors too. Get your R&R on ;)

Will Commanders be able to get out and explore smaller stations or just space ports?
At Odyssey's launch, there will be three types of social spaces;
  • Planetports, Spaceports and Outposts. Planetports will be in large surface installations, such as survey sights and observatories.
  • Spaceports will be found within larger starbases, such as the Coriolis and Orbis stations.
  • Outpost social hubs will be located in small orbital stations like mining outposts and trade depots.
Each of these categories will have a unique layout, with a degree of standardisation to help you find your way around. The visuals inside individual installations will be themed around the economy type of the star system.
These social spaces will be the main explorable area, which you will be able to access through the hangar bays. Social spaces will be available to Odyssey players in pre-existing and new locations throughout the galaxy.

Will there being long walks from one area to the next inside starports?
We want our Commanders to be able to enter a social hub and be able to do their business in a timely manner. This is why social hubs will be built for efficiency and quest givers and vendors will be 'roughly' in the same places from port to port. Accessible areas of the starport, such as the hangars where you disembark (and marvel at your ship), are connected by a system of elevators, this will ensure that you won't have to travel for hours to access your ship, to pick up missions or meet contacts - we don't want you to be late for your Apex Interstellar ride!

And the section on 'long walks' has relevance to the thread ;)

No idea on station gravity yet, but they always reckoned mag boots would be a thing, so may not be a factor for social spaces.

Just had an email from Ci¬G announcing their support for the Tobii eye/headtracker...won't make any difference to anyone who doesn't have one of course and I currently use mine with a 3rd party Track-ir emulator (FacetrackNoIR) in game...which enables headtracking but not the eyetracking. Having the native support for the Tobii is good news for me at any rate :)

No doubt it'll be included in the 3.12 update...I shall venture into the PTU to find out.

A lot.

Most backers are normal people. Its the crazies that make it fun though :D
Indeed. I did dump a lot of money into that project (and was probably quite crazy to do so) but i keep a critical eye on its development, which is not looking good at all. Now excuse me as i go back to the "buggy mess" that is CP2077 (which had a huge day 1 patch, and another patch yesterday.. those quest bugs are being squashed as we speak). Should i mention it's running really smooth on my high end gaming computer, when SC barely scrapes 25-45fps at Area 18, all the while looking much, much better ?

Walking around a tiny fraction of stations confirmed.

In SC there are only a few stations. In ED, we don't know yet, but presumably if you can walk around at least part of a coriolis you'll be able to walk around all coriolis.

I am expecting those areas to be relatively limited in size though, i mean, compared to the size of a coriolis. I'm sure people will complain about that as well :D

But this is all the fun of playing ED, how people complain about all sorts of things and nobody screams ITS ALPHA.
