Will Odyssey be worth it?

you know how broken Cyberpunk was and still is
I know how there are some making out how broken it is... I have 20-odd hours of faultless play (in 4K with all the Nvidia bells & whistles) behind me in that game and my only real gripe is that I'm unable to map the keyboard how I wish... With luck it'll get sorted sooner or later - until then, well - I'm getting quite good using a controller.

Ummm... did you buy Cyberpunk 2077 yourself, or just going by things said by other people?

I'm wondering if it will be possible to roll cargo cannisters by hand between a few commanders. That could be quite the challenge ;-) fastest team to roll one up a slope. Also, materials shot out from boulders, wonder if we can play rugby with them?

The game it's not bad, and has potential. As I said, personally I look at gameplays to gain my interest into the game, now there are a bunch of factors that can make you lose your interest into it, of course you can't call a game broken or buggy when there's like a few people saying that it is, but when there are hundreds of videos, thousands of admitting that it has flaws, and literally when even the company that made it, knows, and they try to patch it as hard as they can, we're not talking about the gameplay here but we're talking about something technical, when it's known to literally everyone including the company that the game has technical flaws, then yes I am going to lower my interest into it until I can know that the game has no more weird technical stuff going on within it.

Don't get me wrong, you can't judge the story, the gameplay until you don't play it, but you can judge the broken stuff going on in the game as long as it's literally everywhere, espacially when the company admits it. Why would they release these patches for PC then.

Can you name me a single AAA game, or game in general, that never got patches after launch?

CP77 is a mess on current-gen consoles and low end pcs. On high end pcs I have had one crash in total. Game looks great, plays smoothly, and only minor issues exist.

Of course... it has patches churning out... well done the developers...

I, of course, am making observations as one who has, and has been playing, the game since it released last week - not spouting other players opinions or findings... For me, on pretty reasonable hardware, the game has been solid in both performance and behaviour - and is the only comment I can make, as it is my own experience, not hearsay...

Same here so far. Seen some issues but nothing severe.

They do have patches for general optimization, but to fix these many graphical errors and glitches, I surely can't call myself an expert and give a hundred percent correct information and talk about how the game will react to weaker and/or stronger computers, a game will always have a bug because I know people that have programmed, told me, when you fix a bug... you create another one and it's pretty much a cycle. If the game ran just fine on someone's high-end computer it si not an universal thing, there will be people with High-End computers that will meet some technical difficulties on their way in, I do respect everyone's opinion because that's human but in my personal opinion the game is not really that polished.

If there is a game that I can truly judge, is GTA 4, I played it and I have bought it on Steam, I have a good PC it runs games on High settings without a single issue, for example GTA 4's optimization is horrible, story and gameplay is great but there are a crap ton of difficulties when it comes to soemthing technical, it's an old game too and people already got used to it.

Pre-Alpha, Alpha, Beta and generally not fully released game, they will have bugs, that's exactly why they're not fully released yet, it is not a bad thing that people pre-order it because these people will actually help FDev in finding the issues so they can get fixed in the future. Odyssey and not a single other game, upon release, they are not polished. This is where the player base comes in and gives the developers a hand.

So, you don't own the game, but are just repeating 'stuff' rather than recounting your own experience with it? Or have I misunderstood your comments?

OP.
Like you, I have poor internet in our village. Frequent disconnects, outages and slow speeds.

That said, I'll defintely be spending £30; there is no other game out there that is like Elite.

I am not big into FPS as they tend to give me nausea. Nevertheless I am hoping the 'shooty' bit is just one part of what Odyssey will bring to the game.

If the new content brings something extra, then I look forward to seeing it introduced to the game. I might not benefit as much as some, but then the community is much bigger than just me! :p

Look, what I'm saying is, and I am going to make it short, the game looks good, visuals are great and graphics are how should a next-gen look like, but the game is definitely not polished and some games will never be a hundred percent polished. The game was delayed three times before finally getting released with a ton of hype a few days ago, looking exactly at the many amounts of years this game took to develop, and it's my personal opinion, I don't think it should've too many issues except a few bugs there and here because that's normal. You do have valid points aswell and I have to admit it, I might have been wrong on some parts too, but I trust the fact that I have my part of truth.

Games upon release, they're not polished, but they shouldn't be like how Cyberpunk was when released, espacially after this much time of development, really now.

So I have limited internet and while I can log in and play solo, playing in open is generally not an option for me. (Not to mention I hate gankers with a passion.) So the question is, before I spend a crap load of shekels for Odyssey, will it be worth it? I can't tell if it is designed more for MMORPG style or if it's balanced for playing solo or with just a couple friends. Simple question, but I love the idea of being able to exit the ship and walk around as well as land on planets with atmospheres. I remember my Frontier days, exploring strange new worlds and seeing the life on the surface as I skim the surface.

I recommend waiting and watching others play it to determine whether or not it's your cup of tea. This will also give Frontier time to fix all the bugs (and yes, there will be bugs) before you commit.

Rat Catcher, honestly, going back to Odyssey... personally I won't care too much about the bugs I just want to see what you can do in the DLC and if you can do everything that has been told so far, I don't care if I'll fall under the map or hold the gun in the opossite direction, I'm still getting that on God. Hahaha.

Yes. Undoubtedly worth it, if nothing else just for the stunning visuals.
Not to throw shade at you or anyone else, but I never got buying a game/expansion just for the visuals*, especially one like Elite that has a good bit more to offer.

Take Godfall for example. It's stunningly gorgeous, but last I heard the game itself is god-awful not everyone's cup of tea.
*except space engine, of course. Which I would definitely recommend instead of Elite if visuals are you're thing.
