Odyssey - What happens if you "die" while on foot?

Anything beyond a random spawnpoint in the base you are at will make for possible camping gameplay. Good for a small minority bad for the rest.
That said you know what fdev will go for 😌

Escape pods aren't realistic either - as an explorer at the * end of the wood you could drift for centuries without being picked up.

The manual explicity states that the ejection/escape pod system has it's own hyperspace drive.

We're cylon clones.

You die permanently, unless you have unlocked the illegal "suit sentient AI override" module.

Then the suit takes control, injects what's left of you with formaldehyde, and you spend the rest of your career as an AI-controlled pickled zombie.

You spawn back at spawn points just like you do in any shooter. So camping or assaulting near or on enemy spawn points will be the new meta : )

Your suit includes a foam cocoon which envelops your body while the life support tries to keep you alive and a mini hyperjump drive teleports you to the nearest visited station for proper medical treatment.

You just have to belive it.

so we puff up like popcorn... cool!

We know in the rest of the game the are mechanisms to prevent you dying.
Ship explodes - escape pod - rebuy
Fighter explodes - only telepresence - go back to ship
SRV explodes - assumed telepresence - go back to ship

So what happens if you get wiped out in a gun battle in an outpost?
If you end up on the ship do the suits basically just contain avatars?
If it's just telepresence/avatars why do the suits need oxygen?

So many questions.....

Meybe it's like dying in Ian M. Banks Culture novels, where everyone has a neural lace embedded in their brain and a stash of empty bodies on ice and a backed up conciosnesses in some 'safe place' and when you die your neural lace shoots your consciousness through space time entanglement to your new body, you wake up however only with the memories up to your last backup.
Idk meybe this is the best explanation I can justify for how it works.

What you describe is not dissimilar to the RemLok survival mask that appears in "The Dark Wheel". Instead of mini hyperjump it sends out a distress signal for you to be rescued.
