If they release before XMas, they would deserve the horrible festive period they will undoubtedly get.
Jan : Alpha - Fix the big crashes
Feb : Beta - Fix the big
March : Beta 2 - Anger that not enough of "my bugs" have been fixed
April : Release
June : Playable
November : Balancing complete (or as complete as it will get for the next 3 years)

It depends on how many segments you are applying to a year, if it's just early or late, then anything before July is early. If there is a mid, then April would still be early (three segments of 4 months).

I think the talk of Q1 was to do with the company financial reports, there was an expectation that they wouldn't miss the projected Q1 release date in 2021. I may be misremembering though, send up the StuartGT bat-signal for more accurate info ...

I saw fdev said that date wasn't factual though no source for that but nothing is pointing to a release after Q1 atm.

As I said above, all this commentary about June releases and fdev being late... They do not have a history of delaying release after they've set a date or estimated period. I'd include this "slight" delay in the definite box of exceptions that prove the rule (quotations for emphasis on fact not air quotes).

It's just an odd thing to level at them. Seems out of touch. If anything, I'd say their refusal to delay hasn't always been appropriate and delays might have been better. They're stubborn about it and so... Yeh, off mark.
