How to Reach HIP 58832

So GalNet has invited pilots to go to "The Ceiling of the Galaxy", and honestly, I thought the greatest single jump range in the whole game is 200 ly which is provided by a carrier. The next-best thing is my stripped-down Diamondback Explorer with its prototype FSD (Thanks Community Goals), and even with max-tier booster injection, that would take my ship to 160 ly per jump. Problem is, I'm scanning the Galactic Map right now and I don't see any other stars that meet such a radius to jump from.

I took a picture of the map here, with those squares on the map each being 100 ly or 1000 ly for the big squares of the grid. The bookmarked system is the main goal, and, well...just lots and LOTS of emptiness.

I'm all for believing "Where there's a way, there's a will". Question is, what's the way to reach this Point of Interest? Or was the GalNet article regarding this topic just an out-of-season April Fool's Joke?

Multiple jumps (via ship) with fuel scoop will do it (of stars type KGBFOAM).
Edit : I might be wrong.. if there is no such reachable star..

Fleet Carrier jump range is 500ly.

I’ve been wondering the same thing. Switched to my 52 LY Phantom and route plotting had some kind of episode. Couldn’t find any star even close that route plotting could reach. Do I have to get a stripped-down Jumpaconda to get there? Or a Fleet Carrier?

That’s...kinda lame. Either shell out for a carrier or be at the mercy of someone running a taxi service.

Yeah, that sucks. I'm only HALFWAY to buying my own (never mind costs for upkeep and fuel), and no doubt it's gonna get CROWDED up there.
Anyone wanna taxi me when the day comes? I could use an excuse for a vacation anyway.

A normal ship can manage more than 300ly by neutron-boosting (which quadruples the range, so you'd need a base jumprange of 75ly: an Anaconda can manage just over 83ly). However, IIRC there is no convenient neutron star in this case. As previously mentioned, a Carrier can manage 500ly.

Well, keep your eyes open for people offering lifts (there is a discord channel for that) because you do have something they want. Credits are not as easy to come by in the black as they are around populations (one week is about 50 basic honks to maintain I think). So if you've got money, you can fare.

Isn't the outpost due to be placed on Thursday? Not much point going up there yet, unless you're prepared to hang around. Might suddenly become crowded then though.

I’m just being a cynical git. Thinking some may decide to leave their Carrier there when they’ve had enough of it. Fill up the system so others can’t get in.

Although true cynicism would suggest no one would bother going all that way just to dump a Carrier.

....and not be able to get back? Ok, now I’ve confused myself :oops:

Dedicated group of trolls could have a dozen throwaway accounts (Epic freebies, Steam sales & such) each, and fill the system with carriers. Either just leave the accounts there or self-destruct without using rebuy. 🤷‍♂️
